love thy neighbor • r. sukuna
(Y/N) moves into an apartment complex on the other side of town and winds up living right next door to one of the most notorious drug dealers in the city nonetheless! But looks can be deceiving…
📝: black!fem plus size reader, plug!sukuna, age gap (6 years or so) mentions of toxic relationship and baby trapping, religious trauma, anxiety, alcohol + drug use, comfort + fluff and angst to smut, missionary, prone bone, oral sex, reader cries during, daddy is used a couple times, size difference, lots of kissing, positive affirmations, creampie
wc: 3.0K
🎙️: I swear imma get back to posting regularly! I’m just being lazy and hating my writing rn (it sucks) 😭 but I hope y’all enjoy
═✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿═══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
you didn’t know what to expect when you found yourself residing on the same floor as plug!sukuna..it was your first time living on your own. Fresh out of your parents’ house with minimal belongings and all of the savings you had managed to scrounge over the years. Enough to cover first and last month’s rent with some extra left over..working as a receptionist in a local doctors office by day and offering online tutoring services at night to suffice your income. You'd return home from your shift, ready to relax by at least eight o clock..meanwhile, plug!sukuna was just beginning his night. Heading out into the streets to do God knows what until the early morning hours. But he’d never leave until he’d done two things: said hello and made sure that you were straight. You never really understood the logic behind it..especially considering the fact that you weren’t exactly close friends or even acquaintances beforehand. Hell, he didn’t know you at all and yet, he was just as kind as an old lady bringing you cookies to welcome you to the neighboorhood.
nonetheless, plug!sukuna would always tell you “..keep that door locked, don’t answer that shit for nobody and call me if you need anything, aight?” his deep voice was the last voice you’d heard for the evening and the first when you awoke in the morning. Sometimes, he’d even bring you breakfast per your request and you’d eat together. You’d cut off all ties to your controlling, religious fanatic family and the narcissistic ex who’d all but attempted to stick you with a kid you didn’t want and turn you into his personal doll…trapped inside of the house with no purpose other than to serve him. It was the way all of the men in your former faith operated. But you weren’t interested. Not in the slightest. In fact, you wanted change so drastic, it’d make their goddamn heads spin! Over time, you’d grow closer to plug!sukuna. His second long check ins and warnings became full blown conversations as the two of you congregated downstairs in the pool area or at the mailbox for a cup of coffee. A cigarette dangling from his fingertips to go light once he went outside.
“I know this place seems nice and all from first glance but…imma let you in on a lil’ secret, baby. It’s all types of people who come here..looking for trouble and hell, I’m not gonna lie to you. I’m part of the reason. That’s why I tell you to keep your door locked. Your pretty ass answers for the wrong person and somebody is bound to try and take advantage. ‘Damn shame I’d have to fuck someone up if something were to happen to you..”
plug!sukuna was sweet and endearing in his own right. But that’s what drew you into him..he was the very antithesis to what you knew men to be. Brutally honest yet so empathetic to your feelings. Rough as hell around the edges but a total gentleman. He may have done horrible things but he was a good guy..the best damn one you’d ever met. Unbeknownst to him, you’d watch him from the window leaving out; others surrounding him in the parking lot in similar cars. Blacked out with tinted windows..doing sleight of hand to pass something to other tenants who you’d recognized. Only what you could assume to be drugs. A couple of the guys you’d recognized from church, talking to deacons and pastors..now it’d all made so much more sense. Even so, plug!sukuna kept you out of that part of his life as much as possible. Eventually, some months would pass and it was a secret to no one that you’d grown quite fond of him..damn near smitten even.
however, plug!sukuna was adamant on not taking it there with you! He’d admitted himself that you were beautiful and in another life, any other circumstances..he wouldn’t hesitate to make you his. The problem was, you were still too vulnerable and he was knee deep in a lifestyle he wanted you to steer clear from. You were healing from years of trauma and downright abuse..trying to navigate this world on your own. If he were any other scumbag, he could have easily sucked you into his world and had you out here doing his bidding.
“(Y/N) baby..do you know how many girls just like you..who leave bad situations and end up in worse ones because some nasty motherfucker saw how vulnerable they were and used that to their advantage? How many girls went from being in the church to being on their knees for some pimp? I care too much ‘bout you to let that happen. I’m no good for you, I swear. You’d only end up hurt because I can’t give you all of me. Shit, I can’t even promise I’d make a good boyfriend. I’m selfish as hell, I’m always gone..I’ve slept with more women than I can remember. What could you possibly want with somebody like me, huh? What could I possibly do for you, (y/n)?”
but you saw right through plug!sukuna’s facade. He was gentle at heart..a romantic even. He wanted his person to spoil and adore just as much as you did. The streets were his only love for most of his life. He’d seen many things but nothing quite like you..those round, doe eyes; so innocent and pure. Pouty lips, chubby cheeks and the soft, ringlet curls that surrounded that gorgeous face. That soft, plump body and those thighs that rubbed together when you walked away. He wanted to devour you whole sometimes..many nights had plug!sukuna lied in his bed next door, thinking of you being on top of him. Those perky breasts jiggling as he bounced you up and down on his cock. Those nails clawed at his chest as sweat poured down his skin. But those thoughts were far too lewd and disgusting for someone like you! He was ashamed of even having them. But he couldn’t help himself..especially when that sweet, airy voice all but begged him to take you.
“Because I love you, Ryo..I love everything about you. Even the bad shit. I don’t care what you do because it’s not who you are..you’re the man that brings me food and coffee in the morning so I don’t have to rush before work. You’re the man who kisses my forehead when he leaves because you know, deep down..it could be the last time I see you. You’re the man who calls me every time he hears a gunshot or sirens because he worries himself sick about me when I’m not near him. You carry my laundry baskets and groceries, you clean my apartment while I’m sleeping because I’m too tired. And not once have you ever tried to touch me. You never made me repay you with sex or anything. You could easily hurt me and you can’t even bring yourself to raise your voice, even when I’m dead fucking wrong. No one has ever cared about me that much, boyfriend or otherwise and I don’t give a damn if you sell drugs or blow up buildings. A man who’d do all of that for me and never asks for anything in return is exactly who I want.”
plug!sukuna found himself dumbstruck for the first time in a long time..standing there with your small hand cradling his chiseled jaw, tears streaming down your face, he’d find that his own eyes were welling and burning. He’d never heard anyone speak about him in such a way. “Damn, I guess you can read me like a book.” Hell, he’d never acted that way with anyone else either. Yet here he was, treating you like a princess. He couldn’t pretend anymore..he had to be honest with you..and himself.
“I—I love you too, (y/n). So much..”
“Then make me yours. Right now..right here.”
“you know once we do this, we can’t go back..”
“Please..leaving the past behind is kind of my thing.”
it didn’t take long for your lips to meet in a fiery haze, tongues intertwined in a moment of heated bliss. Your hands roaming one another’s bodies as moans slipped through..your clothes all but becoming discarded heaps on the living room floor like a movie scene cliche. His lips traced from your neck to your collarbone; slightly dredging his teeth along the skin in the process.
“Here, baby..take my hand.” plug!sukuna, in one fell swoop hoisted you into his arms as if you weighed practically next to nothing. Continuing to feed you those slow kisses, he’d carry you to a nearby wall and part your thighs. With your legs resting on his shoulders, he’d mark every inch of you. From your sensitive nipples which he cradled in his mouth to that pudgy tummy he loved so much to that juicy center, which was practically leaking for him.
“This all me? Just from some kissing?..” “This is nothing. I touch myself every night thinking about you..you should see the mess I make then.” plug!sukuna could barely sate his urges now, hearing how nasty this supposedly innocent girl was for him! He wasted no time slithering his tongue into that aching cunt. Swirling it around on that throbbing clit, spitting into those pretty pink folds and those succulent brown lips encasing them. He feasted like a man unhinged; greedy and selfish as fuck, just like he claimed. You’d grasp a hold of those dark reddish and black locks, grinding yourself into his face. Rubbing his nose in between your slit.
“Mmmph! Ryo…” “Yeah, fuck my face. Don’t hold back now. You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting to do this.”
plug!sukuna would eat your pussy until he heard you sobbing and felt that orgasm come barreling out. Your tight hole spasming on air as those juices trickled down his throat, chest and mouth. He couldn’t help but to laugh as he watched you writhe in pleasure. Attempting to push him away as you rode out that orgasm.
“Wha—how did you?—“ “What? I told you..I’ve had a lot of practice.” Choosing to omit the fact that he’d fantasized about you sitting on his face more times than he could count. Tossing you a wink and one final lick before carting you over to the sofa. Where he laid you down gently against the cushions…pinning those legs back whilst hovering over you. The entire time, he couldn’t take his gaze away from those gorgeous eyes..they glimmered so bright. Full of lust, adoration and excitement. No matter how much you smiled, he always sensed a certain emptiness behind them. A light stolen from you and now, he hoped to reignite it.
observing your movements, plug!sukuna began to chuckle when he saw you pawing at his crotch. So eager to unsheathe that hard on from his boxers. He could tell that the shy, bashful demeanor you presented was only a front. If given the opportunity, he could turn you into his personal slut with ease..but for now, he wanted to focus solely on making love to you. Giving you every part of him that he’d long to for months now. You’d examine his chiseled torso, reaching up to caress his abs and trace your fingertips along his various tattoos. But you couldn’t distract yourself from how large that bulge was..protruding and leaking with precum…
“Can I?—“ Go ahead, baby..take it out.” And without hesitation, you’d tug that elastic waistband back and let it spring forth. He was so girthy and long. Clean shaven and although he was erect now, you could tell he was huge even when flaccid. Nonetheless, plug!sukuna grasped those thick thighs of yours and mounted in between them; gliding that aching tip along your folds. ”Now you tell me if it hurts, okay baby? If I see you flinch or look uncomfortable, I’m pulling the fuck out. We clear?” And you knew when he spoke, that was law. Nodding in agreement, you’d consent to his terms as you rubbed your folds, waiting for him.
“Good..and tap my arm if you can’t talk. I’m ‘bout to start moving. You ready?” with your permission, he’d glide in slowly and immediately, he thought he’d seen stars! Plug!sukuna, by his own volition, had been with countless girls. From strippers to models, but never had he felt pussy this tight! The warmth immediately cradling him and not letting go. He’d suck his teeth before muttering a single ‘fuck’ under his breath. You were going to be some pressure, he was certain of it. But he’d continue on, gathering his footing and working that cock into your entrance. A single pop, along with wet, squishing sounds rang out across that living room as you lie underneath him.
“Goddamn…your shit feels incredible, baby. I know you had some good pussy..I can tell just by looking at you.” Forcing a wide, toothy smile on your face. You’d never heard him talk so vulgar but it was the side you’d brought out. He was officially obsessed!
“Yeah? Well I’ve been wanting to give it to for so long..I never thought you’d fuck me..”
“I kept you waiting, huh? I’m sorry..guess it just means we gotta make up for lost time then, huh?”
plug!sukuna was thrilled to know that he’d no longer have to hold back because you were on the same wavelength. You’d have no issues matching his energy..so with that, he’d speed up those thrusts. Pounding you with gentle but well paced strokes. The sound of your thighs and skin slamming together, coupled with the sounds of both your moans, made for a beautiful chorus. Your hands around his neck, scratching at his back; legs around his waist and his muscular arms planted right at your sides. Drilling you just as you’d requested and there was no limits between the two of you.
“Yes! Keep fucking meeee..oh my goodness. I’m gonna come again!”
“You’re so fucking cute..damn..” adoring how you sounded squealing and laughing as you met his thrusts. He couldn’t believe how receptive you were and how it took no time at all for you to open up.
“And you look so pretty taking all this dick for daddy. I can’t stop staring at you.” That deep voice showering you with praise as his thick cock thrashed around your insides. Even though you had always been a bigger girl, he made you feel so dainty and small..like a precious treasure he never wanted to lose. “You deserve this, baby..to get fucked just like this. To be spoiled and get whatever you want. I can put you up..you ain’t ever gotta worry about shit. Not a bill, not rent, your family..I got you, baby. I promise. I love you..” You believed every single word and clung to them with every fiber you had. You’d never had anyone treat you with such grace and care before..and that wasn’t the end. He’d continue doting. Telling you how proud he was of you and how far you'd come. How he admired your strength to get out of your situation…he was in awe. plug!sukuna would continue singing your praises until he looked up and spotted tears coming down your face. He was tempted to stop until you told him that you were just fine. He on the other hand..was struggling to maintain his stamina.
“No no..please don’t stop. You just make me feel so good. No one has ever fucked me like this.”
but that alone seemed to ignite a second wind and in a moment of haste, you’d find yourself flipped over into your stomach with his entire body weight shifted on top of you.
“You mean that, baby?” Those outer fangs of his teeth glistening and mouth slicked with saliva as he began pounding you once more..hands pinned to your back and his frame covering your own. The plumpness of that ass ricocheting off of him as he penetrated those walls. You’d come once again, dripping onto the leather couch and making that aforementioned mess he’d been dying to see. This time, his pace was rougher..less structured and sporadic. He couldn’t help it..he was running on pure fumes, trying to give you the first time experience you deserved. Tugging your head back by those thick curls, plug!sukuna fed you the deeper strokes he could muster until those chocolate eyes rolled back.
“Y-yes! This dick is amazing..”
“Tell me who it belongs to. Who’s this good pussy belong to now?”
“Y-you, daddy. It’s yours! Oh fuck..”
never having uttered such lewd words in your entire life, you reveled in the fact that he had been the one to bring this side out. And now, you were about to bring a side out of him. One far more vulnerable than the public witnessed..one that would beg you to let him come inside of you and cry out your name in sweet ecstasy as he did so. You’d feel those warm seeds pouring into your womb as he came to a halt and you welcomed them. plug!sukuna didn’t hesitate to swaddle you in his arms for kisses and comfort.
“I don’t want this to end..tell me it doesn’t have to, Ryo. Can we be this way forever?”
“We can stay like this for as long as you want, baby. I’m not going anywhere.“
and it was a promise he intended to keep. Not just as your neighbor or the guy next door looking over you. But now, as your lover and the man who’d never leave your side.

Eddie sits at the restaurant, scrolling mindlessly on his phone, waiting for Wayne.
He laughs at yet another one of those hilarious videos of parents doing the Grinch prank on their kids. Seriously, there are so many and he finds them infinitely amusing. He just sent the latest one to Gareth, knowing he’ll get a kick out of it too, and is waiting for his reply when someone slides into the seat in front of him.
He knows it’s not his uncle before he even looks up because he just texted Eddie to say he was running late– and ain’t that rich coming from the same man who’s always complaining about Eddie never being on time?
Anyway.
Eddie locks his phone just as Gareth’s reply comes in but he does get a glimpse of a string of laughing emojis before he looks up. “Sorry, man, that seat is–”
But the rest of the words die in his throat when his brain momentarily stops working. It does that sometimes, especially around hot guys. Like the one sitting in front of Eddie, staring at him with a tiny frown between his eyebrows, probably wondering why Eddie stopped talking like he got sniped.
“Taken. That seat is taken,” he finishes. Unlike me, Eddie thinks as he gives the guy an obvious once-over.
“Shit, sorry, of course, but can you– can you hear me out for a second?”
Eddie raises an eyebrow at him, his interest piqued. The guy is hunched over himself like he’s trying to hide and his voice has a frantic tilt.
“Uh sure, man, what’s up?”
The guy probably expected Eddie to tell him to fuck off because he lets out a relieved little sigh when he agrees to listen to him. Then he leans over the table, lowering his voice.
“Do you see that guy with the mustache waiting at the entrance? He’s my ex-boyfriend and a dick and he just showed up with the girl that he cheated on me with,” he explains hurriedly.
Eddie locates the guy waiting to be seated and the girl holding his hand. He’s hot and she’s hot but the guy sitting in front of him has them both beat.
“So I haven’t seen him since I caught them together and ended things with him and– you know when you break up with someone and constantly think about how things will go when you run into them again? How they’ll see you and realize they lost the breakup and made a mistake by letting you go?” Eddie gives a short nod and the guy keeps going. “Right so that was my plan, only there’s a problem because the guy I was meeting for dinner tonight stood me up and now I’m here alone and pathetic and fucking Billy is here with his fiancée! Yes, they’re going to get married! Even if he always insisted he would never do that and–”
He keeps rambling but Eddie is stuck on the fact that not only did this guy get cheated on but also someone stood him up. What the fuck?
If he ever went on a date with someone as hot as him, Eddie would lock him down faster than anyone can say–
“–help?”
Eddie blinks. Shit. The guy just asked him something and he has no idea what it was.
“Uh, s–sure, how can I help?”
Despite his flawless attempt to make it seem like he was paying attention, the guy can tell Eddie zoned out at some point. It drags an amused chuckle out of him. “I thought I could sit here with you until they leave or until they are seated and I can sneak out without them seeing me,” he says, running a hand through his hair and giving Eddie a sheepish look.
Eddie’s phone lights up with a text then. The guy’s eyes dart down, and even if he can’t read what it says, he makes his own assumptions.
“Unless– unless your date is almost here and you need me to fuck off before they arrive?” He says, his expression turning panicked again. He moves his chair back as if to get up and leave, almost taking out the poor waiter.
Eddie reaches across the table and grabs hold of his sweater, stopping him. “Actually my date is just my uncle and he said he’s running late,” he says with his fingers wrapped around the guy’s wrist.
His eyes flicker down, widening a little but he doesn’t pull his hand back. “So?”
“So you can stay.”
The guy visibly relaxes. “Fuck, thanks so much–”
“Eddie,” he offers when the guy trails off.
“Thanks, Eddie,” the guy says with a lopsided grin that makes Eddie’s chest flutter.
Eddie nods and leans back until his chair is balancing on two legs. He has no choice but to let go of the guy’s sweater. “So what are we doing here? Are we friends? Are we on a first date? Have we been dating for a while? What’s the game plan, big boy?”
The guy sputters, adorably flustered. “We don’t– we don’t have to do anything like that, man.”
“Why? I’m not pretty enough to make your ex jealous?” Eddie teases, pouting a little.
“No!” The guy hurries to say then realizes what that sounds like and blushes furiously. “I mean– no, that’s not it. You’re definitely pretty. Handsome. Hot. Uh–”
Eddie can’t help the way his grin gets bigger with every compliment until he can feel his dimples digging into his cheeks. By then the guy’s face is as red as the tablecloth. “Oh keep ‘em coming, sweetheart. Flattery definitely works on me.”
He chuckles nervously. “It’s just– I can’t ask you to do that, man.”
“Do what? Pretend that a guy like me can get a date with someone as hot as you?” He leans forward again, resting his chin on his palms and smirking. “Oh, baby, it would be my pleasure.”
“Jesus,” the guy mutters. Eddie’s blatant flirting doesn’t give him a chance to get his blush under control. “I guess we could pretend we’re on a date if you’re up for it.”
Out of the corner of his eye, Eddie notices Billy and his fiancée following a waiter to their table. They’re going to walk right past them and there’s no way he won’t see Steve. As they get closer, Eddie catches a glimpse of the engagement ring on the girl’s finger–
“I’ll do you one better,” he says as he gets an idea. “Do you trust me?”
The guy lets out an amused laugh. “I just met you,” he says, and when Eddie shrugs like he’s saying– so? he adds, “Okay, sure, why not?”
Eddie shoots him a grin. “What’s your name?”
“Steve.”
“Your full name.”
“Harrington,” Steve says, his face pulling into a frown. “Why do you need my last–”
“Steve Harrington!” Eddie says loudly, watching as Steve’s eyes widen almost comically. The people around them whip their heads in their direction, including Billy and his girl. Perfect.
“I was planning to do this after dinner but I just can’t hold myself back anymore,” Eddie continues just as loudly. He furtively removes one of his many rings before pushing his chair back and standing up.
He shoots Steve a quick wink and drops down on one knee.
“Oh my God,” Steve whispers disbelievingly as he understands what’s happening. His shock only makes Eddie’s plan more believable.
“Steve, Stevie, sweetheart, I still remember the moment when we met like it was five minutes ago,” he starts, watching Steve’s lips twitch almost imperceptibly. “I remember thinking you were so fucking out of my league you shouldn’t even be talking to me, but fate willed it so, and now I’m lucky enough to call you mine. So now I ask you to let me call you mine forever. Steve, the love of my life, my Prince Charming, the best lay I’ve ever had, will you please marry me?” He finishes by holding up his ring, looking expectantly at Steve, wondering if he’ll play along.
He does.
Wiping a fake tear, he leans forward on his chair, cupping Eddie’s cheeks between his hands. “Eddie, our time together might seem short but I’ve always known I was right to pick you,” Steve says and Eddie has to hold back a snigger when he follows his lead– sticking to the truth as much as they can. “Now I’m picking you again. Forever. Yes, I will marry you.”
The people around them start clapping when Eddie takes Steve’s hand and slides his ring on his finger. He presses a kiss to the back of his hand, earning some cooing from the two women sitting on the table next to theirs. Billy doesn’t clap and his nose wrinkles when Steve pulls Eddie to his feet and into a hug,  glaring at the back of his head.
Eddie can’t help but smirk against Steve’s shoulder.
“You’re insane,” he mutters into Eddie’s hair. It should be weird hugging a stranger but Eddie actually enjoys it. It feels familiar somehow. “Thank you.”
Eddie pulls back and grins, his hands still on Steve’s hips. “Aren’t you glad you picked me, huh, sweetheart?”
Steve lets out a laugh. “Yeah, yeah, I am.”
“Eddie?” A familiar gruff voice says and Eddie whips his head around to see his uncle approaching, his eyes darting from Eddie to Steve to Eddie’s hands on Steve’s waist and Steve’s arms looped around Eddie’s neck.
“Wayne!” He says, his grin not faltering for a second. This isn’t the weirdest thing Wayne has walked in on when it comes to Eddie. “You’re just in time to meet your new son-in-law!”
Wayne’s eyebrows shoot up and next to him, Steve makes a strangled sound.
Eddie signals a waiter and it turns out to be the same one who was guiding Billy and his girl to their table before. Billy is nowhere to be found, he probably scurried off to their table while Steve and Eddie were distracted with each other, hoping Steve wouldn’t see him. Serves you right, asshole, he thinks triumphantly.
“What can I do for the happy couple? Congratulations, by the way,” the waiter says and Eddie beams, pulling Steve closer with the arm wrapped around his waist.
“Thank you, kind sir. Can you get us another chair for my uncle?”
The waiter nods and goes to retrieve one.
“Eddie, you don’t have to– I can just go–” Steve says, a faint pink blush covering his cheeks.
“I can’t let you leave, Steve. We’re engaged now, it’d look weird,” Eddie says, and it’s true but he also doesn’t want to say goodbye to Steve yet.
And maybe Steve doesn’t want to say goodbye either because he folds easily. “Yeah, okay.”
They explain to Wayne what he walked into and his uncle gets a kick out of it. He and Steve get along surprisingly well, and by the end of the night, it almost feels like Steve was part of their dinner plans from the beginning.
Wayne leaves shortly after dessert but Steve and Eddie stick around for one more drink, neither of them wanting the night to end.
It has to, eventually, but Eddie is pretty sure that this won’t be the last he sees of Steve, not after they spent the whole night getting to know each other and flirting up a storm.
On their way out they run into Billy and his girlfriend, and Steve almost seems surprised when they do. Like he forgot Billy was there, despite him being the reason why he talked to Eddie in the first place.  Their conversation is short but Eddie makes sure to hold Steve’s hand the whole time and call Billy ‘Bobby’ a total of three times just to annoy him.
After they leave, Eddie walks Steve to his car.
“Thanks again,” he says, leaning against the door. “For helping me out. And for dinner.”
“It was my pleasure,” Eddie smiles. “We should do it again sometime.”
Steve quirks an eyebrow. “Stage a proposal?”
Eddie chuckles. “Well, I was thinking about dinner but I’m always happy to get down on my knees for a hot guy,” he says with a wink.
A slightly strangled laugh tumbles out of Steve’s lip but his eyes sparkle with interest. “Maybe let’s start with dinner. Just the two of us.”
They exchange numbers, promising to call each other. When Eddie turns around to start walking toward his van, Steve calls his name.
“Don’t forget your ring,” he says, sliding it off.
But Eddie reaches out to stop him. “Keep it,” he says, “you can give it to me next time.”
With a grin, Steve slides it back on.
He ends up keeping the ring, but that’s okay because Eddie gets to keep Steve.

About the Reader who became Jason's roommate and all. I wonder what if they were so cold and distant with the family, they made sure for them to know that they are not a family. (They already closed their heart).
It can be things like, in class they won't talk with Tim unless they have to, like having a project together and if they do they'll only talk about the project if he tries to talk about something else she changes the subject or shut it down. All with a smile on their face, the way they talk is too professional and they won't let him involve emotions. "We are only talking about what needs to be talked about" they say.
The less subtle with Dick, Bruce and Damian because they come to them as vigilantes. Waking up to Batman and Robin cuddling them. They snap at them. Because first, "when did dressing as a furry and making kids fight crime with you turned to doing that to stalking civilians? And you claim to be my 'family' yet what family breaks into the house of someone and touches them in their sleep? That's not like family behavior but one of creeps!!"
They also snap at Dick for coming to them in his Nightwing costume. "Are you trying to put me in danger by associating me with your vigilant persona? What a good hero- what a good 'brother' you are."
With Jason, what if the reader didn't snap at him till now and told him about the three show up as vigilantes to a civilian, using his protectiveness against them in that way.
I don't know how may readers treat Jason but I can imagine that they don't cook for him and they don't eat what he cooks for them. They keep personal stuff like tooth brush and all of the personal things in their room. If he comes with injuries they will give him a first aid kit and clean the mess he made but mostly won't help him unless it is something he really needs help in like bandaging his back. Stay in their room for most of the time they are in the apartment.
I can imagine reader apartment hunting after Bruce by there's and stuff but also what if Reader got a better job that can help in that? What if the Reader decided that they will pay Bruce rent because to them he is nothing but their landlord? What if Reader managed to find another place to live in and became the roommate of a friend?
If the fam asked them to hang out or visit the manor they'd use the same words who were used against them when they were in the manor like "not now" "I have more important stuff to do" "don't you have other things to do?" "Go bother someone else" "stop nagging me". So it's like how they used to treat the reader at the manor.
I also feel like what they are trying to do is swipe things under the rug so, I can imagine them reaching the point where they try to confront reader and they just say "after treating me like nothing in my most valuable times of my life you think you can waltz back in my life and play family and I'd welcome you whit open arms? What kind of delusion is this?" "You are not my family and made it clear from day one. You can't just take it back, not after all the damage you've done."
Original fic: Jason's sidecar (Yandere Batfam x Neglected!Reader)
Masterlist
Jason had anticipated it. He was a child of neglect as well not just from his original parents but also partly from Bruce. He blames himself too when it comes to you. He’s the smart one next to Tim and he had read a lot of books on how to end the cycles of neglect and emotional abuse and yet he wasn’t able to help you. He may not say it but he feels like he deserves the current treatment he’s getting from you. And honestly, he’s fine with it. He’s fine with the coldness, he’s fine with the emotional distance. He’s fine by just being the shadow in your apartment who tucks you in your sleep at night whenever Bruce and Damian are out.
Tim is not satisfied with it. He will pull strings to make sure that you and him will always be on the same assignments and projects. If he’s not in the same group with you then he will quickly bribe the weakest link in your group to swap with him. Tim would also use his bad sleep habits as a weapon. It started with him passing out of the class and the professor having to call you to get him home and now the professor has you on speed dial (do people still use speed dial) whenever it happens. Most of the time it’s just a ploy for you to go home to the mansion because sometimes you can’t just say no to Alfred.
Bruce and Dick were hurt but it makes sense. The cowl and the masks protect the cities but too much attention is just as dangerous. At the end of the day even when they are tired, they have made it a habit to change clothes before coming to see you. Bruce is saddened over the fact that his relationship with you became transactional but much like Tim he would find ways to outsmart you. Whenever you pay him rent every month, he would slip back a hundred or two in the less conspicuous places. Most of the time you end up thinking it’s just money you forgot about. If you have those physical piggy banks, he will surely slip the rent back little by little. Dick would make it a part of his routine to be on constant lookout on Gotham’s apartment rent and leasing. Everytime an apartment lowers its initial rent, he would immediately book it and give it to a poor citizen (he’ll do it in secret and help citizens pay for the rent and even find a stable job to keep the apartment). He is also on the constant lookout in other cities as well with help of his other friends.
Damian hates it. He thinks you’re being a brat and that you’re doing it for attention. The estate is the safest place in Gotham and you left it for independence? Why would you ever gamble your life for it? He wasn’t in the whole ‘get you back home’ plan and he respects your decision on leaving even though he hates it. He wasn’t on it until he found his fist clenching hard as he stood inside your now empty room at the estate. He knows of emptiness and yet the feeling of you being missing in that very room felt like he’s falling down the abyss. Bruce holds you two tight every night but Damian will hold you tighter. Arms tight on your midsection and head on your chest. He’s partly glad those grip training worked off.

Prolonged ecto contamination can cause regenerative abilities. This is great when something important is stabbed or a limb is lost. But for other things, not so much.
“Daddy,” A five year old cried, “somethings wrong with mommy!”
Jason ran to his and his wifes room. He stopped by the door, taking in Jazz's tense still frame perched on the edge of their bed. She gazed at a small cylinder object cluched in her hands.
"Jazz?" Jason called.
She slowly lifted her gaze to him and turned the object around, revealing two pink lines.
"Is-is that an old one?" Jason stammered.
Jazz moved her head to side to side.
"Defective?"
"I've done ten of them, all the same."
But, but that couldn't be. Jason mentally floundered. After a failed vasectomy resulting in kid numer six and then a failed tube tying causeing baby number seven, Jazz had a hysterectomy.
Jason opened his mouth to address this but then remembered that their kids were in the room. It wouldn't be good for kids to witness their parents having a meltdown over a positive pregnancy test. Or discuss a possible lawsuit against a certain hospital and surgeon.
Switching gears, Jason called to his kids, "Come on tribe! To the living room for a movie."
"What about Mommy?" the five year old protested.
"Don't worry," Jason scooped up his kid and pecked her forehead. "Your dad got this," he said with way more confidence than he felt.
(OML I LITERALKY FUCKING ROLLED WHEN I SAW THIS ASK ASDFGHHKLLL THIS IS SO FUNNY BC IN MY ORIGINAL IDEAS ABIUT ANGER MANAGEMENT, THEY HAVE 5 KIDS)
Jazz stared at him blankly. Jason stared back. They both stared at each other. Then he admitted, “I don’t think I got this.”
Thank goodness their oldest, Elinor, was able to understand and distract all of her siblings. Now it was just Jason, Jazz, and their Ancient ghost dog alone to discuss what to do next.
Jazz continued staring at him, holding Shadow in her arms before she said, “Y’know, we could….”
“Don’t even start,” he said in exasperation. While he would always give her the choice, he knew that none of them would actually genuinely consider it.
She sighed. “I know. I want it anyways. It’s mine. It’s our baby.”
Her possessiveness was so cute. Jason reached over to hug her, squeezing her gently and placing his chin on her head. It was a bit difficult due to her height, but she hunched over to tuck herself into his arms, so it was a little easier.
“We’ll handle it. Together, like always. It’s not like we’re lacking in money anyways. And we have plenty of rooms and we can get help from our support groups. I can take another break from being Red Hood and you’ve never stopped your online therapy sessions, so I think we can do this.”
Jazz sighed, nodding before she suddenly groaned aloud and used a fist to hit Jason’s chest. Jason blinked. “What?”
“You know what my siblings call me?! They call Miss Weasley! At this rate, we’ll have a football team by the time we’re done!”
Jason tried not to laugh but a twitch must’ve alerted Jazz to his amusement because she looked up at him and glared. Shadow growled lightly on her lap. She scolded, “You’re giving the news to our families again. And I won’t stop Dan from trying to kill you this time.”
“Even if it makes you a single mother to 7 kids?” Jason asked idly.
Jazz paused and then she cursed softly. Jason snorted into her shoulder before Jazz then said, “I think after this, we’re using condoms again.”
Horrified, Jason lifted his head up and stared at her in disbelief and shocked horror. “What!”
“Jason! We have 7 kids now! Can I please get a break!”
Jason groaned, long and loud. Then he sighed, rubbing Jazz’s sides in faux sadness as he bemoaned, “Fine… since I love you so much… I’ll wear protection next time…”
Jazz pinched his cheek with a little narrowed eye stare and smile, shaking lightly but she said, “Thank you, dearest. We’ll handle this together, alright? It won’t be easy, but we’ve done this six times before, we can do this a seventh time. I think I should ask Dan how he does it…” she mumbled more plans to herself, as Jason just held her, closing his eyes.
If his past self was ever told that he’d have a wife and seven kids, he was sure that he’d probably snitch to the cops that someone was hallucinating.
Not that he’d ever trade this for the world, of course.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
♡ a/n — for my new childhood friends to lovers series :)
♡ word count — 1.5k
♡ content — oliver aiku x fem! reader, fem! reader, could be gn but i wanted to be safe in case i missed a few pronouns, childhood friends to lovers, mention of social media hate, goes from 2nd grade to the U-20 game, nickname 'my girl' used once
♡ synopsis — You’d been Oliver Aiku's best friend since you could walk, but what if you wanted to be more?
Tumblr media
Oliver Aiku had always been larger than life. Even as a scrappy little kid on the soccer field, he had this magnetic pull that made you look at him twice. It wasn’t just the way he played—wild and relentless, like the ball was an extension of himself—it was the way he owned the field, every inch of it.
He’d score a goal, throw his arms in the air, and spin to face the crowd as if he were already playing in a packed stadium. The parents on the sidelines clapped politely, some shaking their heads at his showboating, but you? You clapped the loudest.
Parents exchanged awkward glances, but none of it ever phased Oliver.
He had you.
You’d been his best friend since you could walk—your families were next-door neighbors, practically an extension of each other. Whenever someone had enough of his showboating, he’d turn to you with that unshakable grin.
“You saw that, right?” he’d call out, jogging over to where you sat with your knees pulled to your chest.
“Yeah, Oliver, I saw,” you’d reply, trying and failing to hide your smile.
“That’s why you’re my favorite,” he’d say, tousling your hair before running off to join his teammates.
Back then, he didn’t care who was watching or what anyone thought. It was enough that you were there, your laughter and cheers louder than everyone else’s combined.
By middle school, Oliver had grown taller, his voice deepening as his grin remained the same. He still played soccer like the world depended on it, but something else was changing, too.
Your classmates whispered in hallways about who liked who, notes were passed in class, and suddenly everyone seemed to be holding hands. Oliver wasn’t immune to the wave of adolescent curiosity, but unlike the others, he approached it with the same fearless energy he brought to the game.
He started dating casually, his charm drawing girls in like moths to a flame. Each week, there was a new name, a new story. You’d sit on your bedroom floor together, him tossing a soccer ball from hand to hand while you half-listened to his latest escapades.
“She dumped me,” he said one day, catching the ball and staring at it like it held the answers.
“Why?”
“She said I didn’t text her enough,” he replied with a shrug.
“Did you?”
“Nope.” He tossed the ball into the air and caught it again. “Too much effort.”
You rolled your eyes but laughed anyway. It was impossible to stay annoyed with him for long, but something about these conversations left a knot in your chest. You weren’t sure why until the day he turned to you, his grin soft and sincere.
“Hey, if you’re feeling left out,” he said, “we could date.”
Your heart stumbled in your chest. “What?”
“I like you,” he said, as if it were obvious. “If you like me, let’s try. You’re the only person who actually gets me anyway.”
The words hung in the air between you, so simple yet so earth-shattering. You liked him—you always had—but the thought of crossing that line was terrifying. Still, the way he looked at you, so sure, made it impossible to say no.
But it didn’t take long for you to realize you weren’t ready. The idea of ruining what you had—the easy laughter, the shared history—was too much.
You barely managed to hold his hand, let alone anything else. So you broke it off before it could go any further.
Still, Oliver didn’t hold it against you. “You’re my best friend,” he’d said. “That’s never gonna change.”
And he kept his word. To this day, you were the only ex Oliver Aiku had ever stayed friends with.
By the time high school rolled around, Oliver was no longer just a neighborhood star. He was the Oliver Aiku, soccer prodigy and the center of every conversation. He’d grown into his confidence, wearing it like a second skin, and the world couldn’t look away.
Everyone wanted a piece of him—teammates, classmates, even teachers. And though he still found his way to your side, leaning against your locker or texting you late at night, the space between you began to grow.
“I miss when it was just us,” you admitted one afternoon, your voice barely louder than the hum of the vending machines outside the gym.
Oliver tilted his head, his brow furrowing slightly. “What do you mean? It’s still us.”
But it wasn’t. Not really.
You didn’t say that, though. Instead, you smiled and nodded, trying to ignore the ache of watching him move further into a world where you couldn’t quite follow.
You tried not to let it bother you, the way girls flocked to him in the hallways, the way his name was always on someone’s lips. You weren’t invisible, not really, but compared to him? It felt like you were.
Still, Oliver always made time for you. You were grateful for that.
“You’re the only one I can actually talk to,” he said, making it clear there's a reason it's always been you two. “Everyone else just wants to hear about soccer.”
You raised an eyebrow. “Maybe that’s because you never shut up about it.”
He grinned, nudging you playfully. “See? That’s why I like you. Low maintenance. A good friend.”
For some reason, the words stung. You’d always been friends—why did hearing him say it now hurt so much?
When Oliver got his first pro offer, it should have been the happiest day of his life.
He found you immediately after practice, bursting through the door of your part-time job at the library with his usual uncontainable energy.
“I’m taking you out,” he declared, practically dragging you away from the returns cart.
You laughed, stumbling after him. “Shouldn’t you be with your family? This is a huge deal!”
He shook his head, grinning. “I have all the time in the world with them,” he said, flashing you a grin. “I’d rather be with my girl.”
You froze. “I’m not your girl—”
He cut you off. “Do you want to be?”
The air shifted between you, heavy with something unspoken. This time, you didn’t back away.
The words lit something warm in your chest, and for the first time in years, it felt like things were back to the way they used to be. Just you and Oliver, like always.
Oliver’s first season was everything you’d hoped for him. His name was everywhere, his skills celebrated, his confidence unmatched. When the season ended, he posted a picture of the two of you on Instagram—a soft launch for some, but for Oliver, it was a declaration.
“First year down, forever to go,” the caption read.
Some assumed he was talking about soccer. You knew better.
But by his second season, the narrative had changed. His performance wasn’t as sharp, at least in the eyes of fans and reporters. Every missed pass, every fumbled play, was scrutinized. And somehow, the blame landed on you.
“She’s a distraction,” one reporter wrote. “He was better when he was single,” another said. “With that woman clinging to him, he won’t make it in this industry,” a coach even said during a press conference.
Your social media became a war zone. Strangers flooded your posts with hate, blaming you for Oliver’s supposed “decline.” You tried to ignore it, but the words stuck to your skin like thorns.
The U-20 loss was devastating, the kind of failure that sent shockwaves through his career and his psyche. When you found him in the locker room after the game, he was a shell of himself, his usual confidence replaced by simmering frustration.
“You shouldn’t be here,” he muttered, not meeting your eyes.
“I wanted to see you,” you said softly.
He let out a bitter laugh. “Yeah, well, maybe that’s the problem.”
You froze. “What are you talking about?”
“You,” he snapped. “I should’ve listened,” he continued, his tone venomous. “Everyone warned me, but I was stupid enough to think you wouldn’t ruin my life.”
You'd fought before, what couple hadn't but, you ruining his life? "I've been friends with you basically your whole life!" you argued back, fists clutching at the 'Aiku' jersey that adorned your torso.
No matter what you said, Oliver wasn't listening. “You’ve been nothing but a distraction. Ever since we got together, everything’s gone to shit. My career, my focus—it’s all your fault.”
The words sliced through you, sharper than any knife. “Oliver, that’s not fair—”
“Fair?” He laughed again, harsh and hollow. “What’s fair is that I gave up everything for this, and I’m still losing. Maybe if I hadn’t wasted so much time with you, things would be different.”
Your breath caught, tears blurring your vision. “If that’s how you feel, then I should go.”
“Maybe you should,” he said, his voice cold and final.
So you left.
The weeks that followed were unbearable. You deleted your social media, unable to face the onslaught of strangers blaming you for Oliver’s mistakes. Everywhere you went, you felt like a ghost, haunted by his words and the memories of what you’d shared.
You wanted to hate him, to let his betrayal harden your heart, but the truth was, you missed him.
And deep down, you wondered if he missed you too.

“so, they’ll come to me even if they don’t know me well ‘cause they’ll somehow sense that i’m not tryin’ to harm ‘em? just like you did?” the cowboy asks, his voice soft and sweet when the significance of the moment finally dawns upon him. she could have ran away. the thought crossed his mind when he first walked into this little hut and realized that she was gone… she ran away from his brother, and yet chooses to stay with him? discreetly wiping his tears away, he never thought that he’d be getting emotional over something like this but it truly means the world to him. “thanks for not makin’ a single parent to a disabled bear cup out of me,” he playfully muses, gently patting reva blue’s back. there’s a silly grin on his lips, but his eyes remain glassy, betraying his true feelings. “are you the kind of person who can never choose just one favorite thing?” he teases, shaking his head but finding this attitude adorable. all flowers are beautiful, he agrees and doesn’t try to change her mind. “i was tryin’ to find some to put in your bath and make it more relaxin’ but i couldn’t find any.” it’s too cold for anything to bloom. “yeah, that’s definitely normal. it will probably keep hurtin’ for a little while. the good thing is… you don’t have a fever and it’s not drippin’ pus. i remember, back when i was a kid, there was this one rebel who got some debris stuck in his thigh and they’d done everything to try and save his leg… but god, the smell in that room was rancid. by the time he finally agreed to have it amputated, he was delirious and feverish and it was too late, the infection and gangrene had spread to his bloodstream and… awful. it was absolutely awful.” he isn’t trying to scare her, but he wants her to know that it’s a serious situation and she has to take care of herself now — prioritize her health. “alright.” he grabs a chair just so that he doesn’t have to squat and places it behind the tub, so that all he sees is the back of her head and her back. eyes trailing over each cut and scratch, realizing just how much she’s suffered. it breaks his heart. and she’s so skinny that he can easily count her ribs and the bumps in her spine… poor thing. “of course.” he’ll do both. gathering a piece of soap and a clean cloth, he dips both in water and rubs them together until there’s foam forming on the soft fabric. other hand carefully scooping lucy gray’s hair up, moving it over her shoulder so he can begin to scrub her back. ever so gentle and careful, he presses the cloth to her shoulder blade, rubbing small circles into her skin. “let’s try to save your pretty curls, alright?” the most important thing is that she doesn’t have fleas or something. it’s badly tangled, he’ll admit that, but… hopefully, it can still be salvaged. “and if we’ll have to cut it… you’ll still look very beautiful, and it’ll grow back. besides, my brother’s after a long-haired girl, right? i guess every cloud has a silver lining, after all. but don’t worry ‘bout it, we’ll try our best to untangle it. see how that goes.”
“of course they will. if they know you’re helpin’ them, they’ll come along right to you.” and birds are intelligent, so they’ll know. “there is no such thing, but…” a tiny laugh sounds from her, glancing down at her water, swirling a finger around at trying to find the words to describe it. but she’s not used to it. “those are wonderful flowers to love. don’t ask me to choose a certain favorite, we’ll be here all day. there is somethin’ admirable about wild flowers though, you’re right.” a smile pulls on her face at his recognizing that. “thank you, tryin’ to be. i realize it’s still hurtin’ some but i guess that’s normal.” she figures, rubbing at her knee before glancing over at him, “oh, it’s alright darlin’. come on right over.” her legs are squished to her chest and while she’s a little shy and awkward about it, she’s not so shamefully shy she can’t grow bravery and accept she doesn’t care if he sees her bare back. “you can do both things if you’d like to.” now that she’s soaked in water, she guesses it’s not too embarrassing now that her hair is wet even if it’s in knots. “i’m just scared i won’t be able to get these knots out and i’ll have to cut it.” reaching back with an unpleasant look on her face, hand feeling the knots and worry spilling over her visage. almost puts tears in her eyes at how bad of shape she’s let her once beautiful hair get in. it reaches all the way down her back, like everyone in the covey, long hair is sacred. and at this point, she’s worrying she’ll lose the last thing that means a lot to her.

part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4
‧‧₊˚ ⋅* ۶ৎ ‧₊ ‧₊˚ ⋅
It was late. One in the morning to be exact. Oscar went patrolling after dinner at yours, but he couldn’t get something off his mind. Which led him to Tony’s doorstep, fist balled and banging repeatedly on his front door.
Eventually, Oscar’s fist met free air as Tony threw open the door. The older man was disheveled, hair a mess and eyes half open. “What, kid? What do you want?” He asked, highly annoyed.
“Is it possible for Ryder West to know who I am?”
Tony blinked repeatedly. “What?”
“Well, cause, he saw me—like—out of uniform, and I don’t know he was looking at me while talking about spiders so it felt like-“
Tony interrupted his rambling with a sigh. “He doesn’t know you, kid. Not unless you told him.” A pause. “And why would he see you out of uniform?”
Oscar stumbled over himself. “You know what, come in. I feel like this is going to be a long one.”
The door was held open for him. Oscar found his way to the couch and sat with his head hung. “So, I have a girlfriend.”
“Yes. I know. She keeps you from patrolling every night, this isn’t new information.” Tony twirled his wrist in a circle, motioning for him to continue. “Well, her dad is…” Oscar scoffs, stalling to avoid Tony’s reaction.
“Her dad is Ryder.”
Tony’s brows shot up, his mouth gaping slightly. “Wow. Didn’t see that one coming. But that’s a tough problem for you kid. Real tough.” Oscar just nodded.
“So I take it she doesn’t know her dad is evil Elsa?”
Oscar shook his head.
“Yikes.” Tony’s hand landed on Oscars shoulder. “Sounds like you’ve got your hands full.” His remorse was minuscule as he stood up, walking away.
Oscar watched with his brows drawn together in confusion. “Mr. Stark? Where are you going?”
“To bed. Goodnight Oscar.”
۶ৎ ۶ৎ ۶ৎ
The landing was messy and uncoordinated tonight. He was trying to balance two cups of hot cocoa and a box of two chocolate donuts while also sticking a clean landing on the rooftop. Safe to say he failed. The drinks splashed on his boots and he just barely salvaged the donuts when he stumbled.
“Package retrieved!” He cheered as he sat down on the ledge beside you. You laughed at him and took your cup from his hand. “You make such a good delivery boy.” You bumped your shoulder with his.
He flipped up his mask just enough to eat, and through a mouth full of donut responded with, “glad to be of service!”
You chuckled under your breath.
After the both of you had finished your donuts, Oscar hummed. “I’ve been meaning to ask you,” he continued once your eyes met his through the mask. “And you don’t have to answer but… why do your parents have a different last name?”
You shrugged. “My mom was an only child. Grandpa had no one to carry on the middle name, so they gave it to me at birth.”
Oscar nodded in understanding, his eyes on his swinging feet. After a moment, he looked up at you smiling. “You know, the lady at the donut shop was gawking at me the whole time. Super uncomfortable.”
You scanned him, eyes enamored. A tender smile. “Can’t blame her.”
Oscar scoffed a laugh. “Oh come o—mfph” he was cut off abruptly by your lips on his. Subconsciously, his body gave into your touch, leaning closer and getting both of his hands on you. “Gonna- mhh- gonna- be seen.” Oscar managed to mutter between kisses.
You broke away and tucked your hair behind your ears. Two hands placed on his biceps, you shoved him off the ledge and onto the flat roof.
“Now we’re out of sight.” You gave a cheeky smile before diving back in.
Before your lips even made contact, Oscar’s warm body disappeared from below you. He was perked up, his mask messily yanked back down over his face. He was frantically searching in every direction.
“What is it?” You we’re cautious.
His eyes narrowed. “I don’t know.” He breathed out. His senses were at an all time high, his body screaming at him that danger was inevitable, but the city looked normal.
“Is it your… tingle?”
Oscar nodded, in a trance.
Then his head snapped to the left just as a boulder of ice flattened a car. They heard the shattering and the crunching metal from yards away.
“Shit,” you gasped, a hand finding Oscar’s arm quickly. It secured you.
He got to his feet. “Get inside. Find a basement, or get under a sturdy table.”
“Oscar,”
He looked back at you.
“Be safe. Please.”
Oscar nodded before taking off.
Mid-flight, he activated his nano-suit. In the case of any sharp icicles flying his way, It would protect him better than the suit he wore currently.
Subzero swiveled on his floating block of ice to face Oscar’s direction. “Ah, and the bug is here!” His voice was loud, filled with disdain and malice. An ice shard, the size of Oscar’s own head came flying at him as he swung from building to building. He had to drop a couple of stories to avoid it, losing any elevation ground he had on Ryder.
“Arachnoid!” Oscar corrected.
“Doesn’t make a difference to me, I’ll squash you all the same.”
Oscar did not doubt the truth in that statement. He was very aware that it only took one boulder-sized ice cube to flatten him. But he wasn’t worried. He was quick. He could dodge anything that came his way. His main concern remained with the innocent people of the city.
Oscar swung underneath Ryder, hoping to draw him away from the crowds. Unfortunately for Oscar, he didn’t take the bait.
Cursing under his breath, toes pointed to the sky, he launched himself into the air and stuck to the side of a building. Eye level with his own girlfriend’s father.
“Last time wasn’t enough for you?” His laugh taunted Oscar. Another shard came right for him. He flipped, managing to web one of Ryder’s hands, and landed on the building opposite. The shard pierced the window, shattering its panes.
A blade of ice materialized in Subzero’s other hand. He made quick work of slicing the web.
“You’re gonna have to try harder than that.”
Oscar rolled his eyes at the man’s incessant yammering. He tried to web him up again, but he predicted Oscar’s moves. His webs met empty air.
It was a constant game between them. A web shot at Ryder. Ice flying in Oscar’s direction. It was a constant back and forth, and neither of them were winning. They’ve moved a couple of blocks from where they first began, and Oscar started to realize they were getting dangerously close to your place of work, where you were currently hiding out.
When he tried to move back in the other direction, he was hit with a solid rock of ice that blew him back, right onto a rooftop.
Your rooftop, he realized almost immediately.
Shit, he cursed quietly, trying to get away but his web was turned to ice, eliminating it’s elasticity and shattering it. He went rolling back on to the concrete rooftop, letting out a small grunt.
When he looked up from where he lay, Ryder had joined him. Oscar hoped you had the mind to get out of there.
He tried to get up, but Ryder had kicked him back down. Now a firm boot pressed his body against the concrete, cementing him in place. “I admire your determination.” Ryder’s boot pressed harder, earning a small groan out of Oscar. “But you were never going to win this.” He feigned sympathy.
Oscar’s ears picked up the smallest sound. Footsteps. He turned his head in its direction, finding you at its source.
Eyes shifting down to where you grasped a dull knife in your hand, his heart leaped to his throat. An attempt at communication was made, through the subtle shifting of his eyes. You hadn’t picked up on it.
You continued to advance, but your foot crunched on a broken piece of ice. Without looking, Ryder shot out an ice shard in your direction.
A broken gasp was punched out of Oscar’s lungs. You stumbled, the knife falling from your hands. Your hands surrounded the icicle that was impaled in your stomach. “Don’t!” Oscar shouted. Your movements halted.
Oscar was quick to web up the knife, and plunged it into Ryder’s foot once in his hand. Shocked, Ryder stepped back, allowing Oscar to get up. He ran to you as you continued to stumble. You tried to stay on your feet. You were disoriented. That much was clear.
His instinct took over. Webs were shot across the rooftop. As many as he could manage. He stuck Ryder to the very ledge the both of you sat on each night.
You slumped against Oscar. Heavy breaths. Eyes half open. An attempt at a smile. A hand coming up to cup his cheek.
The tears fell fast. His fear undeniable. “It’s okay. You’re okay.” He was unsure which one of you he was trying to reassure, but he kept repeating the words.
Your name was called. A tone of horror. Your father. He struggled against his restraints. You squinted at him. Tried to identify him. You couldn’t. Not when your eyes were as unfocused as they were.
“Friday, alert Mr. Stark.”
“Right away.”
“Oscar,” you breathed out. Affection.
A shaky breath. “I’m gonna get you to a hospital.” He stood. You slumped against him. “Hold on as tight as you can for me, yeah?” Oscar was choking on his own tears at this point.
“But… I’ll get blood on your suit.” A feeble laugh. A shuttered sob. He was failing at holding it together. “That’s okay. I can wash it.”
Oscar shot off into the air. A yell of objection following him.
A slight whimper. “Hurts.” You managed. “I know.” He repeated over again.
Tears blurred his vision, nearly running into a stoplight. “You’re a reckless swinger.” You muttered. Oscar gave a weak laugh at the fact you’d called him a swinger.
He landed right outside the ER. Your legs gave way. “Woah, hey. Okay.” He was sure his mask would be soaked through with tears if it wasn’t for the nano technology.
He picked you up bridal style. “I need a doctor!” He pleaded, not caring how broken his voice sounded.
۶ৎ ۶ৎ ۶ৎ
You shifted, letting out a low grunt. Your abdomen housed a dull, throbbing pain. You tried to move your arm but it’s mobility was restricted by a light weight.
Oscar’s head. Eyes closed. Asleep. His eyebrows were furrowed. His body tense. “Os,” your other hand threaded it’s fingers through his hair.
He stirred but didn’t wake. “Hey,” you poked his shoulder. He slowly lifted his head, blinking a couple of times before gasping loudly. “You’re up.” He was shocked, arms wrapping around your neck to pull you into him. He let go when you winced. “Sorry.” He stepped back.
You made him room on the bed, allowing him to sit next to you. “Where are my parents?”
Oscar’s eyes could no longer meet yours. His hands were suddenly fascinating. “Your mom is on a work trip.”
You blinked. “How long have I been out?”
“Two days. Medically induced coma. They said it would help with recovery.” You nodded. “And my dad?”
Oscar bit his lip. “He’s…” he sighed. “I shouldn’t be the one to tell you.” He shook his head. Your eyes widened. “What? Is he dead?” You were panicked.
“No! No… just away.” Oscar reassured. You sat up, wincing at the pain from the sudden movement. “Away? What the hell does that mean?” You demanded.
Oscar met your eyes. A deep breath. “Mr. Stark took him to a high security prison. In the middle of the Ocean.”
A wave of different emotions crashed over your expression at his words. Confusion. Sadness. Anger.
Realization.
Oscar’s hesitance when they met. On the rooftop, how he knew your name. The familiarity of his voice. “Oh,” you put the pieces of the puzzle together. Your eyes became glossed over.
Then the denial came.
You shook your head, the motion never ending. “He…” A shaky breath. “He wouldn’t have…” Oscar pulled something out of his pocket. A folded piece of paper.
“He wrote this for you.” He offered the small square to you. You took it between your nimble fingers, unfolding it carefully. You swallowed your fear, leaning into Oscar as your eyes met the first line of the page.
To my daughter,
I hope this gets to you, alive and well. I want to first apologize to you for the secrecy on my part. I thought it was better to keep this from you. My alternate self, subzero, wasn’t something you needed to know about. It would have put you in more danger than you already were.
I believe it is important that I tell you exactly why I became this. Twelve years ago, when the aliens came to New York and the world first became aware of the Avengers, I believed I needed to protect you from them. I believed they were frauds. They caused irreversible damage to the city and the people, I believed they truly didn’t care about the people. They only cared about looking heroic.
So I vowed to take out each and every one of them. I’d been building high powered weapons ever since then. One of them went wrong, and somehow changed the composition of my cells and DNA. That’s how I ended up with these powers.
They were never meant to hurt you. I always wanted to protect you. This wasn’t what I wanted to happen. I’m sorry for it all, and that I had to end up in this prison without saying goodbye to you. I was angry with that boy that night. I believed it was supposed to be me by your side. I didn’t understand his connection with you, why he held you so tightly and why his voice shook when he reassured you. Until they told me who he was.
I know now that my perception of the avengers was wrong. They truly are trying to help those who cannot help themselves. I regret it.
I also want you to know that I approve of your boy. I assume you know he’s spider-man. I don’t know if that was part of your reason for choosing him but it doesn’t matter. Oscar is a kind, confident, and resilient young man. It’s become apparent that he cares for you deeply. For that, I truly believe he is what’s best for you. I don’t think there’s anyone I’d approve of more.
If this gets through, please write back to me. I don’t know if they’ll let you visit, but please ask Oscar. Maybe with your connections, they’ll make an exception. If not, I’ll write to you every week.
I love you,
Dad.

You are the product of a series of twisted experiments, an anomaly that shouldn’t have ever existed in the first place. Thankfully, you are taken into the arms of a hero and given a new purpose in life. But as you soon discover, it isn’t easy to deny your true nature, especially when you were made to destroy.

“This is... food?”
You blink, examining the strange item sitting on the plate in front of you. It’s made of several components, and when you hesitantly take it into your hands, it starts falling apart.
Aizawa frowns as he helps you hold it together. “It’s a burger. Have you never eaten one before? Sorry. I wasn’t exactly sure what you liked.”
You don’t even know what you like, so it goes without saying that he couldn’t possibly know either. But your stomach keeps grumbling loudly, demanding to be heard, so you figure there’s no harm in giving it a try.
Aizawa watches, somewhat mesmerized, as you clumsily cram the burger into your mouth. Granted, you’re just a kid, and kids are notoriously messy eaters, but there’s something about the strange way in which you’re doing it that just doesn’t sit right with him.
It almost looks like this is the very first meal you’ve ever had.
“Burger,” you mumble breathlessly. Crumbs and sauce are glued to your face, and you turn towards Aizawa in disbelief. “This is so... so good.”
“I’m glad you like it,” he chuckles. “Go ahead. Eat as much as you want.”
You certainly don’t need to be told twice, and you haven’t yet learned what it means to pace yourself, so you chow down without a moment’s hesitation. Each bite somehow tastes better than the last, and you’re relieved to find that the painful, unpleasant feeling in your stomach is slowly fading away.
Aizawa rests his chin on the back of his hand and keeps watching you eat, but truth be told, he’s more so scanning you over from top to bottom.
You’re a little girl. He can’t place your exact age, but perhaps you’re about six years old? Regardless, you are far too young to have been roaming the streets unattended until a creep snatched you up. It’s possible you were separated from your parents, but so far, you’ve made no mention of it.
And then, there’s your appearance. More specifically, the clothes you’re wearing. If you can even call them clothes.
You’re dressed in nothing more than what appears to be a thin sheet, similar to a hospital gown. Your feet are completely bare, too. No shoes, or sandals, or anything else. Do most kids run around outside without shoes on nowadays? Aizawa can’t say for sure, but it seems strange.
Everything about this situation gives him a bad feeling, and the way that you’re desperately stuffing your face—as if you haven’t seen food in a long time—doesn’t help either.
You make quick work of polishing off the burger, and once you’re done, you look back at him expectantly.
“I think I’m still hungry,” you say. “Can I have another one?”
“In a bit,” Aizawa promises. “But first, I was hoping you might be able to answer a few questions for me. To start off, why were you all alone? What were you doing before that man kidnapped you? Do you remember?”
“I was just walking,” you reply.
“Alone?”
“Yes. Can I have another burger now?”
“Sorry. Just be a little bit more patient. A few more questions, and then I promise I’ll get you another one.” He laces his hands together and leans across the table slightly. “Who were you with up until you went outside? I just want you to try retracing your steps so that you can give me a better idea of what happened.”
Up until you went outside...? Well, you suppose he must be referring to the brief time you spent with Dr. Garaki.
“I woke up, you say simply. “And there was this man. He didn’t tell me his name. But he hurt me, so I left. I didn’t want to stay there anymore.”
Aizawa’s expression darkens. His worst fears have just been confirmed. You must have suffered some kind of abuse and ended up running away from home.
“The man,” he presses. “What did he look like? It sounds like he did something awful to you, and since my job is to take care of bad guys like him, it would really help if I knew a bit more about him.”
“He had a mustache,” you say. “And, um... these things covering his face.” You form shapes with your fingers and place them on top of your eyes. It takes Aizawa a few moments to decipher what you mean.
“Glasses?” he frowns.
“Oh! Yes,” you nod. “That’s what they were. Glasses.”
Talking is quite a troublesome endeavor, you’ve come to realize. Some terms you’re familiar with, while others, you still have yet to learn. But your brain forms the connections quickly enough, and it actually feels rather nice, discovering all sorts of new things about the world.
“A mustache and glasses,” Aizawa sighs, lowering his head in defeat. “That’s not awfully specific. Is there anything else about him that stood out to you? Something more unique that we could identify right away?”
You shake your head. “I’m not sure. I don’t remember much. I wasn’t there for very long.”
“And I just want to confirm, but this man isn’t your father, is he? Otherwise, you would have been able to tell me other things about him, like his name. Right?”
His question makes you scrunch up your brow. The term father... it feels like you should know it, and yet, the meaning of the word evades you.
“What is a father?”
Aizawa wasn’t expecting you to answer his question with one of your own, and it’s safe to say that his concern has just skyrocketed.
“Your family,” he frowns. “The people you’ve grown up around, who’ve raised you. Is that who this man is?”
“I don’t think so. Maybe. All I know is that I woke up today. There wasn’t anything else before that.”
Memory loss. The situation must be even graver than he thought. It’s entirely possible that you’ve unconsciously blocked out traumatic events, leaving you with gaps in your recollection. This much amnesia seems rather extreme, though. Perhaps you’re still hesitant to tell him the full truth. Perhaps the truth is simply too painful.
Aizawa smiles empathetically. “Alright. Thank you for answering my questions. I promised you another burger, so when the server comes back, I’ll order it for you.”
You’re getting another burger. You’re getting more food. More delicious food, for that matter.
The thought of such a thing makes your heartbeat quicken, and before you know it, your lips are lifting at the corners and stretching across your face.
“Thank you,” you say. This man isn’t like Dr. Garaki. The fact that he isn’t hurting you, and instead getting you yummy food, is proof of it. He’s a nice person, and something tells you that nice people deserve to be thanked.
Aizawa smiles back. He’s relieved to see that you’re not too upset, despite the circumstances.
But he's getting another weird feeling, exactly like when he watched you struggle to eat that burger earlier.
It’s as if you’ve only just now learned how to smile.
Tumblr media
“The man’s been taken into custody. Thank you as always for your assistance, Eraserhead. And I’m guessing this is the girl you mentioned?”
Aizawa nods. “Yeah. She was hungry, so I wanted to grab her some food while you were dealing with the perpetrator.”
“I hope she’s feeling a bit better now,” the policeman says. He frowns as he looks you over, which seems to be a recurring trend. “Are you cold, young lady? Your feet must hurt, walking around like that.”
“I’m fine,” you say. “I ate two burgers, and they were really good.”
“Haha. I’m glad to hear that.” He looks back at Aizawa hopefully. “Well, I think she should probably come down to the station. We’ve got a lot of questions for her.”
“Why? Aizawa already asked me some questions, and I answered them,” you frown.
“Yes, but they’re the police,” Aizawa explains. “I’m a hero, so I fight villains, but the police excels at gathering information and getting to the bottom of things. They'll figure out everything they need to know and get you back home, safe and sound.”
“I don’t have a home.”
Even though it’s only been a few hours since you’ve taken your first breath, that much, you know for a fact.
You don’t have a home. You don’t have a place in this world.
If you want to live, like everyone else, you’ll have to forge your own path.
“I think she’s forgotten some things,” Aizawa explains. “I think it might be a response to trauma. But she’s adamant about one man’s involvement, and it sounds like that’s who we need to track down. Maybe we should start with something simpler, like locating her family. Could you find them on the registry?”
“We could try,” the policeman nods. He turns towards you again. “[Name], what’s your family name? Your last name. Even just knowing that would be a big help.”
“I don’t have a last name.” You pause, frowning slightly. “Or maybe I do? But I’m not sure. I just know that I’m [Name]. That’s all.”
Neither of them seems particularly thrilled with your answer, which feels unfair, because you’ve been nothing but truthful.
Aizawa scratches his head. “Well, this is kind of what it’s like. There are clearly a lot of factors in play, and quite frankly, I’m not sure where to start. But it’s obvious that she’s been through a lot and needs our help.”
“Of course,” the policeman nods. “We’ll do everything in our power to fix this. In the meantime, while we track down her family, we should find someplace for her to stay and get some rest. The police station probably isn’t ideal. Maybe child services is better equipped to deal with this sort of thing?”
“I want to stay with Aizawa,” you say. Of course, you don’t really understand what they’re talking about, but so far, Aizawa has yet to let you down. You’d like for him to be with you from now on.
The policeman smiles. “Eraserhead is a good guy, but being a hero keeps him pretty busy. Don’t worry. We’ll find other nice people to take care of you, and I’m sure you’ll love them.”
After what you’ve already been through, you don’t really feel like taking any more chances. Aizawa is good. You like Aizawa.
There’s no point in fixing what isn’t broken.
“I’m staying with him,” you insist, grabbing Aizawa’s hand firmly. His eyes widen at the sudden gesture, but you feel his fingers instinctively squeeze yours.
“I understand how you feel,” the policeman mumbles nervously. “But, um, there are certain things that we just can’t—”
“No. It’s fine.” Aizawa looks down at you, and as he does, his dark eyes soften a touch. “I don’t mind. If it’s a temporary arrangement, I don’t mind looking after her. Whatever helps her feel the most comfortable until you guys get to the bottom of this.”
“Won’t it interfere with your hero duties?”
“I’m not the only hero out there. Besides, if something urgent comes up, I’ll make other arrangements so that someone watches over her, but odds are that you’ll have at least found a lead by then, right?”
“True,” he nods. “A missing child warrants a lot of concern. We’ll probably start getting phone calls within the day.”
“So, it’s fine. At least until then, [Name] will have somewhere to stay. I can have her rest for a while at my apartment. And if there’s anything you need, you know where to reach me.”
The policeman nods once more, and after they discuss a few more details that you can’t quite make sense of, you are finally free to go.
It doesn’t take very long to reach Aizawa’s apartment.
“Sorry for the mess,” he mumbles sheepishly. He then stops to reassess his words. “Actually, I guess kids don’t really care about that kind of stuff.”
He’s right. You don’t.
“This is your home?” you ask, looking around. It isn’t like anything you’ve ever seen before, but you suppose that’s to be expected, given your lack of general knowledge.
Aizawa nods. “Yeah, pretty much. I’ve got a TV, if you feel like watching cartoons or something. Hopefully you can find a show that you’ll like.”
He picks up a device and uses it to turn on another device, and you jolt in surprise as moving images appear upon a screen which was pitch-black just a second ago.
You shuffle closer to what you can only assume is the TV. “There are people in there,” you point. “But they’re so small. How?”
“Have you never watched anything on TV before?” he blinks.
You shake your head.
“...huh.”
Once again, he is completely lost for words. You tend to have that effect on people, and you’re not quite sure if it’s a good thing or not.
“Maybe this has to do with her missing memories,” he mumbles quietly. But he composes himself quickly enough and sits down next to you, cross-legged. “Those people aren’t really inside the TV,” he explains. “Everything you see here was filmed beforehand, and the image was captured so that we could watch it later on. Here, let me find the kids’ channel. It’s bound to be more fun than the weather report.”
He flicks through channels until he finally finds what he’s looking for, then turns towards you, waiting to see how you’ll react.
These are... cartoons? All of a sudden, the TV screen is awash with bright, vibrant colors, which are perhaps a bit too harsh on your eyes. For some reason, though, you can’t find it in yourself to look away. Even though you are an artificial human, your mental maturity is still that of a child, and you feel as if you’re in a trance.
Aizawa chuckles softly. You’ve clearly got a lot going on, but you’re just a kid, at the end of the day. An innocent little kid who likes to watch cartoons.
For a while, it’s silent, save for the sound coming from the TV. You are completely transfixed, so you don’t bother saying anything to him, and he has no intention of interrupting you.
Someone else decides to interrupt, though.
“Yoohoo! Eraser, are you home? I see the light under the door, so you must be!”
Aizawa rolls his eyes. God, what awful timing. The sound of that insufferable man’s voice must have caught your attention too, because for the first time since the cartoons came on, you frown and look his way.
“Don’t worry,” he reassures. “It’s just someone I know. You can keep watching. I’ll only be a minute.”
You nod absentmindedly and focus back on the TV, and soon enough, you’re completely zoned-out again.
Meanwhile, Aizawa opens the door and finds himself face to face with a carefree, overbearing idiot.
“My schedule was looking pretty free, so I came to hang out!” Present Mic grins.
“Of course you did,” Aizawa scowls. “But no, now’s not a good time.”
“Why not? Don’t tell me you’re getting ready for bed already. I know you like your sleep and all, but—”
He stops midsentence, because he can hear the TV playing in the background, and being the nosy bastard that he is, he sidesteps Aizawa and sneaks a peek inside.
Then, he lets out a loud, exaggerated gasp.
“Eraser! There’s a kid in your apartment!”
“Thanks,” Aizawa mutters sarcastically. “I hadn’t realized that until now.”
Present Mic takes a moment to assess the situation. He’s normally obnoxiously loud, to the point that Aizawa has to tell him to shut up, so the fact that he’s been rendered speechless says a lot about the situation.
Unfortunately, he can never keep his mouth shut for long enough.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk.” Present Mic shakes his head disappointedly. “I never took you for the type to have a secret love child. But what matters is that you’ve decided to take responsibility and look after her. And don’t worry! I’ll be with you every step of the way.”
Present Mic flashes him a thumbs-up, and Aizawa has the sudden urge to punch him in the face.
“I think my show is over,” you say suddenly. “And I’m hungry again, so I kind of want another burger. Also, who’s that guy?”
Present Mic steps forward, puffs out his chest, and with great pride, promptly declares:
“I’m your uncle!”
Aizawa really should have punched him in the face while he still had the chance.

Rafe Cameron
Part 1. Part 2. Part 3.
Read alone or consider it as Part 4.
“Are you sure we can’t just skip town and settle in- I don’t know, Canada sounds fun!” I woke up early in the morning to head back home hoping Rafe would stay in his house with our daughter while I dealt with my family. But Rafe being Rafe convinced me it was better to deal with it together, so now I am cleaning my house while he plays with the baby on the couch not listening to my pleas. “She can learn how to ice skate, maybe hockey?” I scream from the kitchen. “I heard healthcare is amazing-”
“Breathe.” I turn around setting the rag on the counter. I look up and see Rafe on the kitchen doorway with our daughter in his arms. I pat my hands dry on my pants as I walk closer to them.
“Japan?” He grins, shaking his head. I groan as I place my head against his chest. “This is going to be unbearable.” Rafe moves his fingers under my chin and lifts it.
“Maybe it won’t be,” I raise my brow, he couldn’t even believe in his own words. “As long as they don’t make any rude remarks, we will be fine, civilized.” He comes down and places a kiss on my forehead.
“If It hadn’t been for a moment of weakness, I wouldn’t have been dealing with this.” I grab Rafe's hand and pull him towards the couch. “I just had to visit my grandmother,” I hear Rafe laugh as he sits down and places our girl in between us.
“By the stories, what else did you expect from a mother-in-law who deep down never liked her son’s wife?” My father was her first born and definitely her favorite.
“Maybe respect her granddaughter's wish of wanting to wait before I tell the rest of the family.” I look over to find Rafe just grinning. “That grin won’t last long,” I stood up and moved to take a spot on his lap. One arm around his shoulder while the other caresses his face. “I can handle them if things go south. I don’t want to put you in a difficult situation.” I look down, chuckling as I watch our daughter grab a fist full of my pants as she tries to crawl between us. “I know your temper and I want you to promise you won’t let them get the best of you,” I look back at him, who is staring blankly back. “Please?”
“Okay” He helps our daughter stand on his lap and her small arm waves around to get a hold of Rafe. We laugh seeing her almost hit me.
“She has to learn how to share,” It's like she understood. Her small head turns over to look at me. I placed my face in the crook of Rafe's neck but soon after she was back to hitting me. “He was mine first” I playfully joke which she smiles at. Our moment is cut short when we hear a knock on the door.  I took a deep breath before opening the door which revealed my parents, grandmother and sister. “Hey”
“Hi honey, how are you?” My grandmother passes by without even looking at me. “There she is!” I hear her excitement.
“Let us have a good reunion, okay?” I move aside a bit more and stay quiet due to my mother's words. My father only nods his head and walks in close behind my mother.
“Ready?” I look up and shake my head. “Too bad.” I know my sister was trying to lighten up my mood, but these nerves can’t be knocked out until they are out of here. I walk to stand beside Rafe who was already being stared down by my parents.
“Mom, dad, grandma, this is Rafe” My grandmother looks up and smiles before going back to babbling at my daughter.
Tumblr media
“Nice to meet you” Rafe goes to shake their hand, but they don’t even give him that. I roll my eyes and turn towards my sister.
“This is my sister.” I point over and she smiles, coming forward to shake his hand.
“Nice to meet my sister's first boyfriend,” I give her a stare, but she doesn’t take the hint. “She wasn’t much for dating so imagine us more than surprised when we heard she had a kid with someone.” She was the only one laughing.
“Yeah, imagine us surprised.” My mother coldly said. “We never interfere with her choices because she has always been our responsible one but not even letting us be part of such an important part of her life well, we didn’t expect that.”
“What made you think that was a good decision?” My father finally looked straight into my eyes. “Wasn’t he the reason you came home for those weeks? Now you have a child with him?”
“No. My reasons for coming home were about me, I needed time to breathe, and I thought going home would clear things up.”
“Doesn’t seem like it cleared up anything in you. You must have come home because you told him you were pregnant, and he didn’t want anything to do with you or your child.” He knocked the wind right out of me. “Then you moved back, and he probably didn’t even help you through your pregnancy and only shows up once a week” His tone got higher as he spits out his words.
“I am not going to argue about what he did or didn’t do because you don’t deserve or have the right to that part of my life. I have a child with this man, and he will keep on being part of my child's life because he wants that too.” My hands felt numb.
“What will happen when he decides to leave huh? How would you take care of your child alone as a single mother? You’re tough my girl, but you fall down so easily.” My jaw stiffens as I watch my mother agree with my father's words.
“Well, that is part of life, isn’t it?” I look directly at my mother. “You know more about fighting for your kids as a single mother than I will, but I can assure you I will not find a man of convenience. I can handle that, you two on the other hand have no right to give me advice on that topic.” My mothers' eyes look down before taking her stance again. I remember the day I was hiding in the living room. She was talking on the phone, and she was talking about not loving my father. She married him because he had the means to take care of her and her children she brought into the marriage. That is when my view of them together forever changed, he wasn’t my real father, but I loved him, and she didn’t love him. “Now another part of my life I don’t need advice on is you being a part of her life,” I pointed over towards my daughter who was getting fussy in my grandmother's arms. “I know you aren’t here for me so if you want to get to know her, I will accept it as long as you know your place.” I feel Rafe's hand entwined with mine.
Tumblr media
“You think-”
“Dad.” My sister walks forward. I could see the anger in his eyes. The way his hands are fisted shut. My head turns when I hear a cry from my girl. I walk over and take her from my grandmother's arms. I didn't hear what my sister was telling them, but they were quiet when I walked over to Rafe.
“We need time.” My mother finally speaks. She picks up her purse and starts heading towards the door with the rest. “We will let you know when we are available to visit.” My grandmother kindly hugs me before she walks out along with my sister.
“Mom?” I stand in the doorway watching as she steps down the stairs following my father towards the car. “My life will continue with or without you and so will hers. I will not go out of my way to please you anymore; I have more important things in my life now.” Her cold stare and demeanor don’t change. She walks off taking another quick glance back at me as she gets into the car. I shut the door and hear in the background how the tires drive off in the gravel. My mind was interrupted when I felt two hands grip my face and pull me in. Rafe places multiple kisses on my lips, then my cheek until he stops and stares at me. I didn’t notice until a laugh came out of my mouth, but I had a huge smile on my face.
“I am so proud of you” He wraps his arms around my waist making sure not to squish our daughter. “Are you okay?” He says lovingly. I nod my head letting my shoulder fall from all the tension.
“Yeah.” It felt like forever with them here but now that is it all over, I feel so relieved like it never happened. “We need to make this a happy day again.” Rafe raises his eyebrow questioning me. “Let's go out!” I pull apart with him and start getting the diaper bag ready.
“How about the aquarium?” I pause thinking back to the last time I visited one. “You love it, and it will be nice to share that with her since she is becoming obsessed with that otter” I laugh putting that exact otter in her bag.
“You don’t want to go thrifting?” I tease handing him the bag.
“No.” He instantly responds. “I will follow you through hell, but I don’t think I can do another antique store or thrift store for another month.” I roll my eyes.
“You are exaggerating,” I hand over our daughter so I can put on my shoes. “But I guess I will just have to find me another man who doesn’t mind”
“You do that, and he won’t last long breathing.” I ignore his comment and stand up to take the diaper bag from his hand.
“Whatever macho man. Let's go because we have enough time to get back before her nap.” I rush over to the door and see him slowly walking. “I thought we would repeat our prior activity while she naps but it's fine-” I hold back a laugh when I see him speed run past the door.
“You should have started with that!” I shake my head as I lock the front door and rush down to the stairs towards his truck. “Don’t you dare touch that door!” My hands weren't even raised I thought in my head. I hear the gravel move under his feet as he comes around the truck. I go to turn around, but his hand meets my hip and pushes me against the truck gently. His other hand moves to tuck my hair behind my ear.
“I know this feels too normal to go back to where we used to be, but We know that we can’t go back to the way we were before.” He moves his body closer. “I want to be the man you need not just because you are the mother of my child but because you deserve someone who treats you right.” My body shivers to see his eyes full of such devotion. “We will go slow when it comes to us because this is forever. I will take my time for the sake of us.” I wasn’t the one to cry but Rafe's always brought it out of me.
“I love you” I say in a shaky voice. A smile appears on his face, and he moves forward to place a simple kiss on my lips.
Tumblr media
“I love you too” I didn’t meet Rafe in his crazy teen years, but I have heard stories about how unhinged he was back then. I wonder how many people would be shocked to see him now. A devoted father who will do anything for his little girl, and a man who looks so lovingly at me. So sappy, I smiled to myself. Then again why did I care? This was the Rafe I knew and loved, and he wasn’t going anywhere.

because one day he wakes up and social services is at his (abby's) door like surprise! you have a child! or at least that's what it feels like because buck never knew about the kid's existence because the kid's mom did not deem it worthy to let him know. it's not like she couldn't track him down, they were facebook friends. but she still kept this from him? which would cause him so much turmoil, like, that she didn't want her kid to know buck is her dad? local area man loses last shred of self esteem he already had a strenuous grasp on.
but now she's dead, so he can't even talk to her about it, and yeah, there's a 4 year old girl in his house who is missing her mom and not liking this new stranger at all. buck is trying so fucking hard to not break down in front of her but he comes close several times. like, is he ready to be a dad? hell no! he's not now (27) any more than he was when she was born (23) but the point is he IS a dad and he's trying so hard to be a good one. (listen, if you know more about the system and you think this is all wrong: i am sorry. this is a romcom and/or romdrama genre type of story. okay? cool!)
so this woman, someone he knew briefly, and they didn't exactly date, but it wasn't exactly a one-night-stand either, but this woman put him on the birth certificate because she was planning to tell the kid when she was old enough and let her decide if she wants to meet him. she wasn't planning on having kids this soon (28), but it happened, and she decided to keep it, she had a decent job and her own place and an adorable, grumpy old cat who stuck himself to her 24/7 when she was pregnant. her parents were well off and yes, of course they were disappointed, because they wanted better for her, but they got over it quickly. and she really liked evan, but he was three states over by the time she found out, and it seemed like a headache to try to coparent with the fuck buddy you hardly got to know for the month and a half you were together, anyway.
the tragedy is that buck will never really know that. this is very much a putting him in a jar and shaking it around scenario. the point is... buck is struggling. a lot.
and then he meets tommy one night. a rare night out (it's taken him a while to get everything sorted, get his daughter registered in a preschool, find a reliable babysitter (who knew childcare is so fucking hard to arrange when you're estranged from your family and your friends are either the people who work alongside you or your ex-(frat house)-roommates?) but he's getting a handle on things) and chimney invites him out one night because he's going stir-crazy at home recuperating from the near fatal stabbing and buck owes him for all the babysitting favours (there were like. 3 instances, if that. and chimney volunteered because he's actually good with kids, which totally surprises buck but he trusts chimney. and he trusts hen a little more)
anyway. he shows up at the bar and there's chimney and a total stranger. a very handsome stranger. a very funny, charming, handsome stranger.
and tommy. ten minutes into the conversation (work calls, chimney wanted to know, he has terrible fomo), chimes in with, "wait, you're the probie!" because he'd heard a thing or two from chimney, they kept in touch after he transferred, no one, not even canon, can take away my chimneytommy bestfriendsim from me, okay? like chimney would text tommy "can't believe you abandoned us. the probie just stole the ladder truck to get laid" so tommy does not expect this guy to be that guy from chimney's stories.
and yeah. buck had barely finished his probationary year before he got custody of his daughter. and it's been maybe half a year of trying to parent a grief-stricken 4-year-old with more energy than she knows what to do with (once she warms up to buck, she comes out of her shell, and quite literally wreaks havoc in the new house, which isn't in the best state to begin with anyway). and he's so tired. there's like permanent bags under his eyes and a preschool-slash-childcare calendar floating around in his brain 24/7. he maxes out at two beers and then switches to a glass of wine tommy recommends and nurses it for the rest of the night.
because the two of them stay and keep talking long after chimney heads home. tommy listens as buck rambles on about remy. offers to bring her around harbor and he'll give them both a tour. and buck lights up at that. he's totally enchanted by tommy (and he can't really figure out why just yet)
tommy gets a text from chimney the next day asking if he got lucky. and oh my god he fucking wishes he had gotten lucky. he was so tempted to ask if buck wanted to come over. have another drink with him at home. (if buck was into it, then yes, he'd be totally down to fuck. if he got awkward, tommy would have clarified that it was merely a friendly invitation. it's schrodinger's preposition). but he chickened out at the last minute, because yes, he's out now, but still not as confident as he'd like to be, not brave enough to ask out another firefighter, and definitely not a friend of a friend.
but buck calls him about that tour and tommy is more than happy to show them around. he talks to remy like she's his equal, and she warms up to him right around the end of the tour, finds her voice and asks tommy how high can he fly and tells him she can fly higher than that. tommy finds that adorable. (enough to buy her an RC helicopter for christmas. he "was at the shop buying stuff for the toy drive anyway, evan, it's not a big deal! you're the one who said she asked santa for a helicopter!")
it is absolutely a big deal. buck is like. a puddle on the floor. god help him. and yes at some point it occurred to him that he likes tommy. like-likes him. so buck invites him over on christmas eve eve when they're both off and accidentally-on-purpose catches him under the mistletoe and kisses him.
evan buckley started the year as a straight, single man and a probationary firefighter. and he's finishing it a bisexual dad to his 4 year old daughter, and a "we'll see how it goes but yeah i'll be your date for new years eve" man by his side. and i think that's hilarious.

Can I Love On You?
Tumblr media
Armando
Walking around the house with the event coordinator, I pinched the bridge of my nose trying not to strangle her as she discussed the current details surrounding our New Year's party. That's right, a damn party! Diamonté was absolutely insistent upon us having a big celebratory bash to ring in the new year with our loved ones. We could have sprung for a cozy, quaint get together at Mike's but nooooo, it had to be special! I agreed because she's my Queen and I'd give her the world, but she's taking the whole thing to the next level. Entertainment, caterers, live music (I told her that was a hell no and she refused to look at me for a few days), and planners. Two chipper, annoyingly perky and overly expensive planners, named Sabrina and Becca, who were willing to give Dee her wildest dreams no matter the cost or aggravation to me.
"Are you listening, Armando?" Sabrina pondered in her disgustingly happy voice as she looked up from her planning book. "Uh, y-yea, you said we'll be doing an entrance?" "Precisely! Once the fire dancers do thei-" "Fire dancers?! What fire dancers?!" "For the New Year's extravaganza! They will be stationed at the-" "No! Hell no! Matter of fact, hold on just a moment." Nodding swiftly in fear, she clutched her planner to her chest as I turned and stormed up the stairs. "Diamonté!" "I'm in the bedroom, baby!"
Marching into the confines of our room, I saw her in the closet organizing and folding clothes. "Hey, sweetie, everything ok?" "Everything ok? This party is getting out of control, Dee. I'm putting my foot down!" Looking up at me, she frowned her big puppy dog eyes but I wasn't budging, not today. "But papa, I want this to be special! It's our first New Year's together as a family and I wanna celebrate that properly." "Fire dancers? Jugglers? All these crazy fireworks? Baby, we don't need all this craziness to celebrate our family." I cooed as I saw the beginning of tears forming in her eyes. "But I want it." "Next year, baby. We can plan and e-" "No!" She stomped snapping into a full on tantrum as my brows furrowed in disbelief. "Que?" "You heard me. I really really really want this party." She murmured staring in fear as I leaned in closer. "And just who do you think you're taking that tone with?" I gritted against her ear as I felt the goosebumps cover her skin. "U-Um, I-" "Tsk tsk tsk, nah baby girl. I don't think you heard me clearly. You'll understand in a few minutes though."
Tumblr media
Terry
Hearing the ringing of my phone, I groaned before picking up the call. "Hey, Tee! Change of plans, we're doing the party over at Mike's. Just something simple and intimate if you still wanted to come." Armando clarified as I nodded. "Thanks for the heads up. Um, I'm still a little busy but I may stop by to show my face for a couple minutes." "Ok man, just hit me up if you do come." "Will do, thanks!" Saying our farewells, I ended the call before looking around and huffing as I grabbed another box. Hoisting it up onto the counter, I huffed before going through the remaining of my things.
After the filing I knew the best thing for everyone involved would be for me to leave, so I did just that. I gave Anaya the house and bought a small apartment a little bit away from work so that I could still provide for her and the kids and give her some peace. We agreed to co-parent for Maya's sake, but I don't want to hurt anymore and I'm trying to make good on my promise not to. I can't really say the same for her, but again that's my own doing...
**ONE WEEK EARLIER**
It was Christmas Eve in the Richmond household and things have been anything but cheerful. Despite the best efforts from my parents to have a cozy and warm gathering, tensions were still at an all time high, and getting more petty by the minute. "Terry, will you please let Anaya know that I'm putting the ham on now so she can use the stove to start the greens?" "You could have texted her." I muttered to myself earning her scowl. "On my way." I sighed before trudging upstairs. Walking up to her door, I heard her giggling sweetly in what felt like forever. Quietly smiling to myself, my grin quickly dissipated as I heard the smooth chuckle of another man. "Boy, shut up! You steady lying!" She chuckled as my brows drew together in anger. Who the fuck?! Waltzing in, I watched her shift her eyes up to me as her bright smile transitioned to a deep mug while pulling her phone to her chest. "Can I help you?" "Kitchen's available." I spat before slamming her door and heading out for a jog.
Coming back from my jog, I ignored hellos and greetings as I headed up to the room. Changing out of my clothes and hopping into the shower, I let the steam overtake me as my thoughts ran wild. Damn, she just gone hop to the next nigga like that?! Nahhh, Tee, you can't really fault her, you know you caused this. But she just fucking filed two days ago, what the FUCK?! You did her foul though, can you really blame her for wanting to move on so quick? True true true. NAH FUCK ALLAT SHIT?! WHO THE FUCK IS THIS NEW NIGGA?! Ending my shower, I tossed on some sweats and a tank before barging down to the kitchen. Seeing her by the stove, I pulled her toward me and stormed off with her in my grasp. "Hey! Wh-" "Mama, watch the stove please?" "O-Ok." "Terry get the fuck off of me!"
Walking into the garage, I slammed the door shut as she jumped from the rush of cool air. "Terry, what the fuck is wrong with you?! Don't be fucking snatching me up like that! And why you bring me down here in this cold ass shit?!?!" "Aye, shut allat shit up! Who the fuck is this new ass nigga?!" "Wh- Ahahaha!!! Yo you serious?!" "Anaya, I'm not fucking playing with you!" "And nigga I'm not mothafucking playing with you!" She shouted poking my chest before I grabbed her hand. Staring each other down fiercely, I silently fumed huffing as she puffed her on fiery breaths at me; our eyes trailed down slowly, almost memorizing one another, landing to each other's lips. You could hear an ant piss how tensely we were eyeing each other.
Leaning forward slowly, I caressed her cheek pulling her into a deep and sloppy kiss. Immediately tangling her hands in the nape of my neck, I hoisted her up feeling on her juicy ass as she wrapped her legs around me grinding her center against my waist as the kiss heated up. Smacking her ass as I held her close, her moans coated my ears beautifully before a voice called from beyond. "Anaya, sweetie! You have a guest!" We heard my mother signaling Anaya to jump off me and scurry into the house in confusion at her actions. Looking on in my own confusion, I followed her before stopping in my tracks as I saw another man standing at my mother's doorstep with flowers for my wife.
**FLASHBACK OVER**
Ever since that day it's been all about her and Rome. I can't even lie, a nigga was livid, hell I'm still livid! I did some of the lowest shit possible but am I really not worth a second chance? This is my first time ever doing something this crazy to Anaya and immediately I'm thrown to the wolves?! I think that crushes my spirit the most, but it just motivates me to do what I gotta do to get my family back. Terry Richmond is once again, a man on a mission of a lifetime.
Tumblr media
Anaya
Waking up, I stretched before feeling warmth as his strong arms wrapped around my waist. Looking over at him, I smiled as he placed a kiss on my cheek. "Good morning, beautiful." "Good morning to you too, handsome." I giggled before he got up to relieve himself and take a shower. Listening to Rome humming from the bathroom door, I blushed before opening my Snapchat and taking a few pictures to match my glittering mood. Choosing one from the bunch, I smiled typing my somewhat petty caption before posting it to my story and getting up to go join my new man in the shower.
Tumblr media
Rome and I have started dating and while things are still pretty casual for us, they're starting to heat up. I took that chance and texted him after the encounter at the grocery store, and he took me on our first date on Christmas Eve. Of course, Terrence was royally pissed but he'll be ok. I told him off the bat about my pregnancy and he's been so accepting and caring of the situation. It's only been a week since we had our first date but he's been treating me like a princess nonstop, even agreeing to come to Miami for New Years so I wouldn't spend it alone. We haven't slept together, but if he keeps this up, I might be breaking that rule.
Getting something for Maya to snack on, I smiled as my phone continued to buzz and ring with plenty of congratulations and well wishes for the new year. I decided I wasn't going to hide this pregnancy or separation from the world or the people in it. I was in fact a new woman, and I'm damn proud of the new woman I'm becoming. I do wish sometimes that things could've been different, but everything happens for a reason. Walking into her nursery, I smiled as I handed Maya her fruit and checked her before heading back into the room to see about Rome. I haven't had them interact yet because for me it would be too soon but I can’t wait for the day. I just hope Terry doesn’t try to ruin this for me.

I know it's kind of an stretch since they're royals and have their babysitter, but maybe Percy and Annabeth being interrupted during their alone time because their child keeps demanding their attention?
This for the modern royals au btw
Might write this as an actual fic later, but if I write it now, I'll stay up all night. but I could not get this idea out of my head. It's just royal Percy and Annabeth discovering what parenting must be like for people who aren't born into birthright monarchies
Percy and Annabeth are way more hands-on parents than most people in their position, but because of this, they have a tendency to underestimate how much they do rely on their nannies for. When Sofia is about five and Ingrid (Gigi) is about three, they take a family vacation to New York for about a week to visit grandma. It's the kids' first time in New York (they've met Sally of course, she's just traveled to them). Percy and Annabeth decide they want to go just the four of them, because they love New York and want special time alone with their girls. They're also trying now for the third baby, so they know it's going to be the last vacation for a while.
They have a house in New York that Annabeth's family uses whenever they're in the city, but the little girls have never been there before. During the day, it's tons of fun, they like to explore it (when they aren't out and about), but the first night there, Gigi gets scared and runs to her parents.
Percy and Annabeth were just getting started on baby three, so to speak, when they hear Gigi. Gigi ends up spending the night in their room. No luck that night.
The next night, Gigi doesn't interrupt, just prevents anything entirely by asking to stay with them. They say "okay, but just one more night."
Well, the next night, Sofie learns that Gigi has been doing this, and asks to stay too. Now they have both girls in bed (and I don't know if you've ever slept next to a young child, but it's chaos. This is not a restful night of sleep).
The next night, Percy and Annabeth suggest the girls just have a sleepover together. The girls love this plan. They build a fort over the bed they're going to sleep it, and it's great. Percy and Annabeth are getting it on. And then Gigi wets the bed, which she hasn't done since she finished potty training, so it's a completely new phenomenon no one is expecting. Gigi is upset, Sofie is upset she's been peed on, and Percy and Annabeth have two messy girls, two messy sets of clothes, and a messy bed. And these are two people who haven't done a load of laundry in minimum six years. So Percy takes care of the wash (he's more used to the practice, as he actually did his own laundry when he lived in New York and through college), while Annabeth gets them in the bath. Very little sleep is had that night.
Percy and Annabeth have literally never been more tired. This is the first time they're really feeling the weight of parenthood as regular people must. But thankfully, Sally an Paul are taking the girls to the Museum of Natural History the next day, so Annabeth and Percy have the day to themselves. Originally they had planned to visit old haunts, maybe get a cocktail together. They spend the first half of the day asleep, and the second in sexual positions they haven't found themselves in in six years. They are in a revitalized, amazing mood by the time they meet Sally and the girls for dinner.
The last night in New York, they just decide to have a big family sleep over, forgoing any attempts at baby making in favor of movies, popcorn, and snuggles with the kids they do have.
Also all the nannies are getting raises when they get back.

Okay, but:
Agatha and Billy getting so deeply attached to each other that everyone's a little bit convinced that she might some sort of weird aunt of his that no one (including his parents) knew he had until now.
Just imagine all the different things they could get up to together that no one ever bats an eyelid at anymore, 'cause that's just what they do/how they are together, and no, you can't separate them, sorry - they're a package deal: you want one, you have to take the other one as well. Also, please ignore the fighting - yes, we've tried to stop it, no, it didn't go well, no, we don't recommend trying again (for your sanity/wellbeing, not theirs), no, we don't offer returns or insurance, please close the door on your way out, thanks for visiting!
Bonus points:
Billy's parents let him get away with a lot of stuff if Agatha's involved - yeah, sure, she might be a bit more dangerous than they'd like her to bed, but she always brings him back in one piece, and he's never been too traumatised (at least, not in any sort of way that can't be fixed with a few more sessions with that therapist he's already seeing), and a good wash will get rid of pretty much all the rest, so what's the harm?! At least he's not doing drugs/crime/etc. like some of those other kids -
Extra bonus points:
Wanda returns, and everyone's immediately suspicious of her. She hates it, 'cause why is everyone looking at her funny when Agatha's right there?! why is she getting the third degree, and not Agatha?! you know, the one that is arguably even more dangerous than she is?!
(Wanda's as dumb as a brick wall, though, 'cause she doesn't get that everyone's eyeing her funny 'cause she quote literally rolled up out of nowhere and tried to kidnap a kid out from underneath his parents/family/friends/community with literally zero awareness whatsoever as to why that might be a problem - her logic is probably something along the line of, 'but he was my kid first??? why won't you give him back when you stole him from me???'; she'd probably also try to bring up the fact that, while the kid in front of them looks like William Kaplan, William actually died in the car crash and the individual now residing within his body is actually her son, Billy - this, of course, would not make things better as, while this would throw the Kaplans through a loop (especially re: how long Billy's known about this), they're not about to just give up the kid they've raised for the past few years to a complete nut job with a moral compass even more fucked up than the devil's)
. . . I don't remember where I was going with this. Oh, well 🤷‍♀️

i wonder - edward cullen x reader
Tumblr media
<<prev
As you tossed and turned you thought you were going crazy.
It was normal to think of someone, but you’ve never experienced someone taking up your entire mind.
You hadn’t touched your keyboard. You only stared at it. You haven’t played since your fingers knew what the Cullen’s grand piano had felt like. You look down at your fingers before closing them into fists. You wonder how much things had changed.
Walking outside, bundled up, you slightly jump from the sight of Edward, once again leaning against his car.
Waiting for you.
“Oh! Hello.” your parent greets beside you.
“Hello. Do you mind if I take Y/N to school today?” he asks politely. You watch the scene unfold without saying anything.
“I don’t mind.” they reply as they look at you, look at him.
“Are you ready?” Edward takes his eye contact and puts it in your direction. You just nod.
Your parent tells you they will see you later before adding, “Young man you shouldn’t stand outside in the cold like that. You will get sick.”
“I have a very strong immune system.” he says with a grin and your parent does nothing but shake their head and mutter, “You kids.”
Edward opened and closed your passenger door for you.
You silently just hold your hands to the hot air that flowed out of the vents. He didn’t say anything either.
You slowly would take looks from the corner of your eye before watching the snowy road in front of you.
No words were said, but he still walked you to your locker to put your coat away.
You tried very hard to focus. You looked down on your eraser covered quiz that the teacher had issued. You sigh to yourself as you brushed the eraser crumbs away.
Lab day.
You looked next to you, your lab partner was absent.
“Y/N?”
You look up to your teacher after you had collected the necessary materials for the day’s lab.
“Yes?”
“Your partner isn’t here. Do you want to work by yourself or do you want to join a group? It’s up to you.”
“Um…” you say and slowly take in your options. Other partners started to already get to work, the small chatter swirled in the science environment.
“By myself.” you say.
“Okay.” they reply with a soft touch to your shoulder and walk to another group, checking up on what they’re doing.
You write your name on the worksheet.
“Can we work together?” you hear and you immediately look up.
Edward’s eyes weren’t shy as he peered down at you.
“S-sure.” you say. You watch his body move to sit in the spot your partner usually sits in.
He then takes control, doing most of the work as he lowly tells you the answers.
“I could’ve helped. I’m not entirely useless.” you whispered as the teacher told a group to stop goofing off.
A small chuckle comes out and he says, “I know. I just want to get done faster.”
“What’s the rush?”
He shrugged before looking at you and you look down.
“Is something wrong?”
You shake your head.
“Then what is it?”
“It’s nothing..Am I..Acting like something’s wrong?” you ask as you write down the answers that he pushed in your direction.
“It’s just…You aren’t your talkative self.”
You just nod silently.
“I have a lot on my mind.” you say.
“What is it?” he immediately asks.
“Nonsense. Things that aren’t really all that important.” you brush off.
“I have a lot on my mind as well.” he says after you both looked at the scale and write down the ounces.
“What is it?” you ask.
He sighed softly, only a bit before looking at you with a soft grin, “Why did you really stop playing yesterday?”
You sit back in your chair a bit, “Because..” you say with a shrug, “I wasn’t trying to make it seem like I was a show off or anything.”
“That was your moment to be a show off.”
“Well..It’s over now.”
“It doesn’t have to be.”
You look at him in question just as the bell for the first half of class ending, rings.
As students went to their lockers and used the bathrooms, you and Edward stayed seated at the lab table.
“What are you doing after school?”
“I have a piano lesson today.” you tell him.
It seemed as though Edward tried to think of something else to say.
“After that?”
“Going home…” you say with a slight shrug.
The class resumed after the small break. The teacher closed the door back.
“Are..Are we finished?” you ask as Edward takes both of your completed worksheets in his hand.
He nods and placed the sheets in the bin. The teacher grins a bit and goes back to typing on their open laptop.
You then pull out homework.
“Where did you move from?”
You tell him.
“That’s not far…” he mused and you nod.
“Has it always been one parent?”
“Divorce.” you answer in a small voice as you fly through the homework. You just did not feel like doing it later.
“Where are you going to college?”
You pause your writing and look up at him with a pitiful expression. He’s amused by this.
“I really don’t want to talk about all of that right now.”
You’ve heard enough of it at home.
“May I ask why?” he asks.
“It’s just..Not my priority right now, alright? I…” you say and look down to the pencil that’s clutched in your hand, “I don’t even know what I’m going to major in, let alone choose a school.”
“Music.” he says as if it’s very obvious.
“I’m afraid it’s not a safe career option.” you say.
His eyebrows furrowed a bit, “Why isn’t it?”
“I guess my lovely parent has nightmares of me being a homeless but talented musician.” you mutter. This makes him laugh a bit.
Walking side by side in the halls, he stops before the cafeteria is in view.
“Skip your lesson.”
You whip around at him as if he was crazy. He just plainly stared at you.
“Why on Earth would you ask me to do that?” you ask.
“We can work on your song for your competition recording.”
“That’s why I going to my lessons.” you say and nudge his arm.
“I can teach you superb notes to play. Something that isn’t repetitive.” he insisted.
“You don’t even know the song I’m playing.” you say.
The people you sit with at lunch walks past, questions that you know you will have to answer to at the table, is painted on their faces.
“Tell me.”
You tell him.
He shakes his head slightly, showing disapprovement.
“Come on..That’s elementary for your skill level.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. I’m not skipping my lesson. Plus, I don’t want to get trouble when I’m supposed to be there and I don’t show up because I was getting my own special lesson from you.” you say and you walk away at that.
They did ask what you two were talking about.
“We had to work together in science today. It’s nothing.” you wave off.
A new chapter was taught in history. In the dark room that was lit up from the teacher’s screen, showing what needed to be wrote down, the class took notes. Jasper was back in his seat in the back of the class.
You slid your coat on and watched as Edward stood in front of you. He did something that surprised you.
He extends his arms and zips your coat up for you. You blinked.
“Thanks.”
He only nods.
“Here to convince me?” you poke at him.
“It seems you have your mind made up.” he says.
He tells you goodbye as you walk to the car that your parent was in.
As they drive, you notice that you’re going in the direction of your home, not to the place where the lesson was held.
“Where are you going?” you ask.
“We have to talk.” they tell you.
“Okay..”
“I feel like we should pull back from lessons-“
“What?”
“Y/N, sit back.” they say as they take a glance at you.
“No.” you say. They give you a look. You sit back.
“Why? Why are you doing this to me?” you ask desperately.
“You need to be more focused on what you’re going to do with your life.”
You cross your arms as you felt like you were going to cry.
“I know what I’m going to do with my life…Just please don’t take this away from me. Please!” you beg.
“What are you majoring in?” they ask as you both come to a stop at a red light.
You didn’t have an answer. You couldn’t blurt out an answer because they will hold you to it.
“See? Maybe this summer we can put you back in but for right now-“
“This summer?! That’s like…” you quickly count on your fingers, “Five months from now! What am I going to do until then?”
“Study. Really get down into what you are going to go to school for. If you’re going in my profession, I can start pulling some strings now but otherwise, get some letters of recommendations ready so you’re not scrambling all around last minute. Then, we gotta start doing tours of schools. There’s a lot to be done Y/N and now’s the time to start getting prepared. You can always tinker around with your piano once your business is taken care of.”
You slump back in your seat and let the rest of the lecture go in one ear and out the other. It was completely unfair.
You press down on your keyboard sadly as you couldn’t think of giving it up.
You barely spoke in the morning as you got dropped off at school. Your parent still wished you a good day. You were planning to have the most terrible day.
“How was your lesson?” Edward asks as you shoved your belongings in the locker and slam it shut.
“No more lessons until the summer. Yay me.” you say and storm off. He keeps up.
“Why?”
“Because.” you huff out angrily, “Because..Apparently it’s only pleasure and not at all business.”
“I’m sorry..” he says.
You give him a quizzical look, “Why are you apologizing?”
He opens and closes his mouth and opens it again, “It’s unfortunate..”
You nod and start to go inside of the classroom but his hand touches the hand that was at your side. You look at him.
“We can practice after school.”
You shake your head.
“Nah..”
“Why not? Isn’t that what you want?” he asks.
“It is but…You’ve done enough as it is.” you tell him.
You felt his eyes watch as you walk to your seat and sit down.
Quizzes were passed back. You read the score.
“6/10”
Your teacher leans down to quietly speak to you, “I know you can do better than that.”
You nod.
Your acting skills were then put to the test when your lab partner gushed to you about why they missed the day before. A college tour.
The teacher walks in and everybody has a seat and new notes on the new lesson were taken.
Edward walked to the spot you two always sit, in the back of the library but you walked in another direction.
You needed time to think. You sat by yourself as you stuck your headphones in and listened to music quietly.
You felt a hand touch your shoulder.
Taking them out, you look up to find Edward.
“Study hall is over.”
You rise and he actually waits as you gather your things.
“Kind of sucks you are a year below me. You have more time to figure things out, if you haven’t already.” you say. A small grin appears on his face, “What makes you think I might have things figured out?”
You take a quick look at him as you both walk in the halls, “You just look it.”
“Look it?”
“Yeah. Like…You have yourself together.”
“Like I have myself together.” he mused.
“Correct.”
“What else do I look like?”
You chuckle a bit, “You just…I don’t know you just seem mature. Especially for your age.”
“I’m mature for my age?”
“Are you just gonna repeat everything I say?” you ask with a smile.
“Maybe..” he says and the brunette that you have seen around, looks in both of your direction. She prolongs her eye contact before books slide out of her hands.
You watch as a boy eagerly picks them up. You look to see that Edward was watching the scene unfold right with you.
You then continue walking.
“She’s not my friend.”
That’s what played in your head. You don’t know why it stuck out to you but it kept replaying as you ate your lunch.
“I wonder if he’s lying.” you thought in your head but you then wondered why you even cared if he was or not. It’s not like you liked him or anything. You just thought he had a good looking face.
“Is Edward Cullen dating Bella Swan?” you couldn’t help but blurt out at the table.
A girl next to you looks at you with a snigger, “As if. I’m surprised a Cullen is even talking to you.”
“Why?” you ask.
“They talk to no one. They would be freaks if they were ugly. That’s what makes them so interesting. Rich, smart, good looking, good family, but they never talked to anyone here.”
“Edward talked to Bella.” you point out.
“Yeah for like a second. Then, it went back to him being to himself.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. She almost got crushed by some van and apparently he was there beside her when it happened.”
So, that’s why they were both at the hospital. That’s why the nurses commented on it being hectic that day.
“Huh.” you replied in thought.
“Yup. Some kid named Tyler who couldn’t control his own van. The van was skidding down ice and everything. She’s so lucky she didn’t get crushed. The paramedics came and everything.”
“Wow. I came right after all of the excitement.” you comment and laughs circled around the table.
You felt a nudge after you walked out of the cafeteria.
You look and display a grin.
“Hey, Alice.”
“Hey, you.” she says and she’s skipping at your side, linking her arm with yours.
“Wanna come over after school?”
You sigh a bit, “I really wish I could. I got a lot of work to do.”
“You do? It was a pretty relaxed day, at least for me.” she says.
It felt like she caught you in a lie.
“It-Its not homework. Honestly..Can I be honest?” you ask. She nods as she encouraged you. You wanted to say what was on your mind but you couldn’t form the words. You opted for something else instead.
“I don’t think I can come over today. I have to start researching for schools. I don’t feel like hearing another lecture.” you say in a tone that screamed pity.
She smiles a bit, “Why don’t we do so together? I might need ideas.”
“Darn you.” you say with a slight point, “Why do you have to have an answer for anything?”
She laughs as Jasper says hello to you. You both walk into the classroom together after you greet him back.
In your last class of the day, you let your parent know that you won’t be needing a ride home.
Edward was there when you came out of the classroom. You nod a greeting.
“Alice told me you’re coming over.” he says as you both walk to your locker.
“Yeah.”
“What changed your mind?”
You open your locker and don’t say anything.
“She asked me. We are researching schools together.”
He snorts. You look at him.
“Alice had her school picked out since forever.”
“So she lied?” you deadpanned.
“I wouldn’t say she lied. You said you wanted to research schools. She offered to do so together. She can still research schools with you even with her own picked out.”
You shrug on your coat and your coat is zipped up from him. He opens his hand. You look at it. You watch as it moves towards your backpack and he eventually holds it in his hand.
You place your hands in your pocket.
“You never wear one.” you observed.
He doesn’t say anything.
Sitting at the family computer, you were bored. You were more interested in Alice’s conversation than the descriptions of what a school was offering on the big screen.
“Fashion?”
She nods.
“You’re so lucky your parents are letting you major in that.” you say.
Her eyebrows furrowed a bit, “You have your music.”
“Yeah but..” you then shake your head, “Not to go get a degree for. I’ve been told, it’s pretty much useless.”
“Nonsense!” she says.
“Exactly.” you sigh out.
“She can’t take lessons anymore.” you hear Edward’s voice speaks out.
“What?!”
You giggle at her outburst.
“Y/N, I’m sorry.” she says.
“You weren’t the one who took it away from me. I will be okay.” you say.
Jasper comes into the computer room, peeking his head in.
“Alice are you ready?”
“Coming.” she says and turns back to you and gives you a quick hug before following him out.
“Where are you going?” you ask.
“We’re visiting a..Family member. Edward..Are you coming?”
You watch him shake his head.
“See you.” Alice says and grabs Jasper’s hand.
The room was silent and you scroll a bit before looking at Edward who was watching you.
“Why didn’t you go?” you ask.
“Didn’t want to.” he says. You nod and look back at the screen.
“You said you wanted to hear me play.” he says.
“Uh huh.” you say.
“Come on.” he says and you see that he’s leaving out. You exit out of the browser and follow him.
He pats the spot next to him on the bench. You sit as you concentrate on his fingers.
It was like an orgasm for your ears. Your eyes were stuck to his fingers. His fingers moved with such speed and precision. The music that produced from him and his piano was the most loveliest sound that your ears had ever heard.
When the song was over, he played around with some notes. It reminded you of a hotel lobby.
“I’m not ready at all.” you whisper.
“What?” he asks with a small chuckle.
“There’s definitely going to be people who play like that.”
“I doubt it.” he quietly but confidently says.
You don’t say anything and you press on the weighted key with one finger.
“Do you want me to teach you that song?” he asks.
You look at him with wide eyes.
“What song?” you ask. He chuckles again.
“The song I just played.”
“Yeah, right.”
“It is a competition. It’s about being the best.” he says.
You shrug a bit.
“When’s the deadline?”
“Next month.”
He nods, “Okay. That should give us enough time.”
“I didn’t say yes.”
“But you want to.”
You retract your hand from the keys.
“How did you get so good?” you question.
“Years and years of practice.”
“You…Not to give you a big head, but you play very good. Like, better than some composers I’ve heard.”
He smiles as he looked at the keys.
“You let me teach you, you’ll win. What’s the prize? Money? Scholarship? What?”
“Money but, I don’t really care about it. I just wanted to be able to have the experience of winning something like that…I want to be able to say, well hopefully say, ‘I won that.’” you admit. He doesn’t say anything but you can tell he soaked in your words. You look away from his gaze.
“You do that a lot.”
“Do what?” you ask and glide your finger across the keys one time.
“You don’t like looking at me.” he says.
You pause your movements.
“What do you mean?” you ask quietly.
“I mean that you don’t like looking at me. You look away from me all the time.”
You shrug, “I’ve never noticed.”
“You’re not even looking at me now.”
You breathe of a small laugh but you still don’t meet his eyes.
“That doesn’t mean I don’t like looking at you.”
“Do you like looking at me?”
“I don’t…Know.” you answer honestly.
“I like looking at you when I’m talking to you.”
You don’t say anything. You instead shift a bit in your bench. You slowly look to him and his expression is warm but he took in your face. His eyes moved about subtly as you both blinked at each other.
You look away with a small but breathy chuckle.
“You did it again.” he says.
“We didn’t talk.” you reply.
“We’re talking right now.”
“You’re intense..” you comment.
“Is that bad?”
“I don’t know.” you answer honestly.
He taught you the beginning part. He made you do it over and over and advised you to practice when you got home. It definitely was a challenge.
“Thank you teacher Edward.” you joke.
He zipped your coat up and smiled, “You’re a very good student.”
You walk out of his house and you look to him, “You zip my coat up but you never thought to zip yours up?”
“I’m not cold.”
“Edward, are you sick in the head or something?”
He laughs. Laughs as if it was a joke made by a comedian.
He opens the car door up and you sit in the car.
He drops you off and before you get out, “Can I pick you up tomorrow?”
Your backpack is in your lap and you say, “It’s fine. You and your siblings have been good to me. I won’t ask you to do too much.”
“It’s not too much on my part, Y/N.” he says and the look on his face was sincere. You just nod.
Over dinner, you had to explain yourself.
“We were studying.”
“Did you study for schools?”
You groan as you set your fork down.
“Yes. I did.”
“Okay. What school?”
“I want to major in music.”
Their own fork clatters as they look at you.
“Y/N. We are not having this talk again.”
“It’s my passion.” you say.
“I know that-“
“Do you? I don’t want to work a job where I’m unhappy.” you say as you poke at your food.
“I don’t think you should hang around that boy anymore.”
“Really?” you ask.
“It’s like you’re distracted.”
“How? My homework’s done, I’m doing what you’re asking, please don’t strip my entire life from me.”
They don’t say anything.
You worked your fingers with your keyboard with your headphones plugged in.
Newfound determination came out as you practiced.
So that’s how it went.
He would pick you up from school, walk you to your classes, you would look up in science as you worked with your lab partner and catch him staring, and he would walk you to his car after school.
You both worked together on the song he was teaching you. He was mature with his criticism. It felt like you were in an actual lesson and he was an actual teacher. He knew his stuff.
You felt yourself improve each day. Your time at the Cullens lengthened to the point, you wondered how come you never seen them eat dinner.
The sky was darkened, mostly due to the ending of daylight savings time and you sat quiet in the passenger seat.
“What’s wrong?”
You look to him focused on the road and you shake your head, “Nothing’s wrong.”
“You haven’t said anything since we left my house.” he says.
“Just…I’m just…Do you and your family eat?” you blurt out.
You watch as his lip curled up in amusement.
“Yes. We eat.”
“You guys must eat really late.”
“Yeah.”
“What’s your favorite food?” you ask.
“You wouldn’t like it…I’m a vegetarian.”
You eyed him but didn’t say anything else.
You reach for the door but he calls your name.
“Yeah?” you answer.
He’s hesitant, but he forces it out, “Next week, after we record your solo, can I take you to dinner?”’
“As…Friends?” you ask.
“Whatever you want.”
“I’ll think about it.” you say with a smile. He formed his own as he watched you walk inside your home.
It was surprising. You dreamed about playing the piano. You dreamed about playing the piano with Edward.
You yawned a little as you felt him put an arm around you as you both walked the halls.
“You didn’t get sleep?”
“Not really.” you say quietly and looked at his limp hand that was attached to the arm that was around you.
At lunch, the question was dropped like a bomb.
“Are you and Edward dating?”
“No. We’re just friends.” you say casually as you bit into your lunch.
Giggles circled and you furrowed your eyebrows, “What?”
It was a study hall day, you and Edward sat really close to each other in the back of the library.
“People are thinking we are dating.” you say with a straight face.
He slowly grinned.
“I heard that too.” he says.
“I don’t want you to think I’m trying to make our friendship weird. I really appreciate all that you’re doing for me. Same with Alice and everyone else.” you say.
“So, have you thought about what I asked you?” he asks and you look down from his eyes.
“Um..Not really. I’ve been too tired…To really think.” you say.
“If you don’t want to, just say no.” he says.
“When I say I don’t know, it means I’m not sure if I want to or not.”
“What makes you so unsure?”
You just stare at your hands.
“Why did you give me that song out of all songs?” you ask, changing the subject.
He notices but goes along with it, “It reminds me of you. It fits you.”
“Whatever that means.” you say with a slight chuckle.
“It’s true.” he answered.
The week went by fast. Too fast.
It was the weekend. He waited outside of your home as you got into his car on an early afternoon.
You aimed the camera at you as it stood up tall on the camera stand.
You wring your fingers a bit before looking at him. His hands are in his pockets as he looked at you.
“I’m..Kinda nervous. This never happened before.” you admit.
“Just pretend you’re in your room by yourself.”
You nod and walk to the piano.
He stands by, ready to hit record.
You roll your shoulder back before positioning yourself and gave him a slight nod to let him know that you were ready.
He gave you a small thumbs up and you play with determination.
You surprised yourself as you owned the keys on the grand piano. You were thankful that he let you use his. The weighted keys were pressed down as the musical sounds filled the room. Your eyes followed your fingers and you were focused. The nervousness that you felt earlier rolled off of you by each second.
When you were finished, you look up to see a small smile and a small clap.
“You hit it right on the nose.”
“Thanks.” you say as you scratch the back of your neck.
Nothing was said as you scooted off of the bench and walk to the camera that was currently in his hands.
“I thought about it.” you say. He meets your eyes.
“Thought about what?”
“We can…Sit down for dinner. Thank you for letting me use your piano.”
“I told you, you were free to use it.” he says but his smile didn’t fade as he broke down the camera stand.
You nod and sit on the sofa as you watch the video of you.
“Are you proud of yourself?” he asks.
A small smile formed, “Yes.”
The rest of the Cullens made conversation with you as you lounged in their home.
You found out that they had traveled to different cities. They had great stories to tell.
You noticed they all had the same eye color. Questions ran deep.
Edward reached and opened the door for you as you walk in.
“Table for two.” he holds up two fingers.
You stare at his glass of water, untouched.
“This smells really good.” you say as the waiter sets your plate down. “Are you sure you’re not ordering anything?” you ask.
“I’m okay. I ate a big breakfast.”
As you chewed slowly, you began to think.
You swallow.
“Edward…Do you…Have an eating disorder?” you ask quietly.
“No.” he says with a smile. A bit of relief forms in you but you’re still confused.
“I’ve been with you almost all day and not once have I seen you eat. Or your family.”
“We just…Have a special diet is all. But really, I’m okay. I ate right before I picked you up.”
You nod.
Valentine’s day rolled around. People walked the halls with small teddy bears and candy from their own relationships.
You open your locker with your coat in hand.
The teddy bear was as big as the space in your locker. You look to Edward. He looks to you.
“This from you?” you ask. He nods.
You hold it up with two hands. The smile stretched across your face.
You set it back in your locker. You hug him. He hugged you back.
“You shouldn’t have.” you say to him with a grin.
“Do you like it?”
“Yes. I love it. Thank you.” you say. Your eyes then look about and you see people are walking past and staring.
“Is there something on me?” you ask in a whisper. You don’t remember dropping toothpaste on your clothes that morning.
“No.” he says with a slight chuckle.
You close your locker after making sure the bear was safe.
“Then, why are people staring?” you ask in another whisper.
You both start to walk and he puts his hand around your back and places his hand on your arm to pull you close, “They’re just curious. You have nothing to worry about.”
A dance was coming up in May.
You had no plans of going. That’s all your lunch table talked about.
“It’s girls ask guys. Are you asking Edward?”
“No. I don’t even want to go.”
“What?!” the entire table asks.
You shrug.
“You’re just going to do nothing but sit in your room?”
“Whatever.” you say as you playfully roll your eyes.
“We have no lessons today.” you say as Edward wasn’t going in the direction of your home.
“I know.” he says. You sit back in your seat.
You sat next to him on his couch in your room after you both finished homework.
“You don’t have a bed?” you ask as you noticed something missing.
He looked around.
You looked around with him.
“Are you going to the dance?” he asks changing the subject.
You look to him and shake your head.
“Why not?” he genuinely asks. You shrug, “We’re just going to be seeing the same people that we see everyday but just in different clothes.”
He chuckles at that.
“It’s your high school experience.”
“If you want me to ask you, just say that.” you say with a grin.
The look that displayed on his face make your heart thump, making you almost retract your statement due to nervousness.
“I want you to ask me.”
“Do we…Go as friends?” you ask.
“We could.”
“Okay.”
“Okay.”
He gets up and holds out his hands.
You eyed him as you get up as well, placing your hands in his cool ones.
“Does it bother you that your hands are cold?” you ask.
He shakes his head, “I’m used to it.”
His thumbs brush the back of your hands that made you let out a small breath, you look up to him. He was looking down at your hands but slowly looks up into your eyes.
Soon, he keeps one of your hands in his and placed one of his hands on your back.
“What are you doing?” you ask as you grinned.
He twirled you as if you both had done this time and time again.
“We should practice.”
You both slow danced and you both were amused.
He gave you a hug when you were about to unlock your front door.
“You should get in your car. You will get sick.”
“I’ll be okay.” he says near your neck.
Weeks rolled by slowly. Your dreams were consisting of more and more of Edward. You seen him basically everyday. Even on weekends.
You sat up late in the night. Your heart thudded.
You dreamed that you both kissed. Your mind was distracted.
You stopped raising your hand in class. It was as if he infected your mind to only think of him.
The teachers took notice.
At lunch, your friends invite you to Port Angeles for clothes shopping for the dance.
As you waited for one friend to get out of the dressing room, you thought about changing your mind.
It was to the point where your heart started to race when you were near him. Even when you thought of him.
Your first acceptance letter that came in the mail made your parent let off of your back.
“See? This is a great school too.” they say with a pat on your back. You nod.
You received an email. Stating that you won. You blinked at it.
You gasp and run to your parent.
“I won!”
“Won what? A scholarship?” they ask.
“No. The piano competition. I won.”
“Oh. That’s nice.” they say.
“I’m getting a check in the mail soon.”
“Good. You can put it towards your schooling to get the things that you need.” they start to stay on that topic. You tuned them out.
You nervously pace as you clicked on his contact. One ring.
“Hello?”
“Thank you. Thank you so much.” you just say.
“You’re welcome….What did I do?”
“I won.” you say with a smile. He congratulated you, telling you that he knew you had it in you.
“I’m not coming to school tomorrow.” he tells you.
“Oh. Why?”
“Family emergency. I’ll see you after though.”
“Okay.”
“Okay.”
It was like you were in a daze. The entire family did not show up. The teacher’s words morphed together. It was as if you were in a time warp.
You hugged the large teddy bear that he had given you when you got home. You didn’t know if you were going crazy but it freshly smelled like him. The bear rested right under your nose.
The weekend came and he calls you.
“I want to take you somewhere.”
“Okay.” you tell him.
The meadow was beautiful. You had to tell yourself to breathe. You felt his cool hand interlaced with yours and you let him tug you.
“How do you find something like this?” you ask.
“I like to explore.” he says quietly.
He pulled you to him as he took both of your hands. He looked down at you.
He brings you in closer with both arms around your shoulders, you look up to him.
“I have to tell you something.” he says quietly. You nod.
His gaze burns into yours, “I don’t want to go to the dance as friends.”
“That’s okay…I didn’t really want to go anyway.” you say. He chuckles softly before shaking his head. He then straighten out his facial expression.
“I still want to go with you. Together.” he confirmed.
“As in…?”
He only blinked as he peered down at you. You look away as you notice that you two were in a tight embrace.
The next day, he knocked on your door.
You let him in with a grin.
You both hug. You then take his hand and your parent allowed you to go with him and his family to play baseball.
“Isn’t it going to rain?” they ask him as Edward zipped your coat up.
“We’re trying to stick a game in before it does.” he answered. He takes your hand and you’re following him to his car.
In the clearing area, the sounds of thunder was from the sky.
Alice grins, “It’s time.”
You thought that you were dreaming. There was just no way an average person could leap that high or run that fast. You had no words. You were very impressed and entertained.
The soft drizzle of rain dropped down as Alice threw the ball with a fast whizz. You heard thunder but instead of quick flashes of lightening strikes, you look up in the sky and see Edward and Emmett slam into each other. They’re on the ground laughing.
Alice throws, Rosalie is at the plate and cracks the ball with the bat. Once again, the loud struck of thunder surrounds the field but you knew it came from them.
“Y-you’re out.” you tell Rosalie. She gets up and whispered, “You could’ve let me slide with that one.”
“Cheating! You’re out!” Emmett says with a joyous grin. She flashed him an annoyed look.
“It’s just a game, babe!” he says.
You shrug with a soft smile as you help her brush the dirt off of her pants.
Jasper steps to the plate next and flips his bat impressively. Alice throws the ball and Jasper hits it and you watch as her eyes suddenly grow big.
Alice yells a time out that captured everyone’s attention. Before you knew it, your arm was grabbed by Edward as the family circled around you. It was as if they were hiding you.
“Let’s go.” Edward says to you.
“It’s too late. They were leaving when they heard us.” Alice whispered in slight panic.
You heard Alice hiss out in a whisper, “Cover Y/N’s scent.”
“Scent?” you wondered in your mind.
“You’re okay. Just stay quiet, okay?” he whispered to you, to calm you down. You nod slowly.
You look up to Edward looking at you out of the corner of his eye as he glued his hand into yours. You look down, his foot taps a steady rhythm. You wondered why he did it.
You hear Carlisle speak.
“Thank you.”
You peek and see three figures standing in front of the Cullens.
“I’m Laurent, this is Victoria and this is James.”
“I’m Carlisle and this is my family.” Carlisle says as gestures with his hands.
Laurent greets everyone.
You watch as Edward glared at someone. You didn’t want to look who it was.
“So…Could you use more players?”
There was hesitance and Laurent smiles, “Just one game.” he says with one finger up.
“Oh, alright. A few of us were leaving so you can take their spot.” Carlisle says and throws the ball back to Laurent. The girl however, Victoria, caught it with such insane reflex, you held back a gasp.
Slowly, Edward tugs you away. The family moved with his movements. Carlisle kept them talking. The rain started to pour more heavily.
Edward practically threw you in the car and he was already starting the engine before you could click your seatbelt in. You watch as the others form into a game.
He drives in silence.
“I shouldn’t have brought you here. I’m sorry.”
You do nothing but stare at him.
He dropped you back off at home.
“I’m sorry, Y/N.” he says again as the rain poured down behind him. You both stood in front of the front door.
“We have to talk.”
“Okay.” he says with a nod.
You give him one last look before shutting the door behind you. The rain poured much heavier. You stare out of the window.
Hours went by. Your phone rings. You answer.
“Do you want to talk?”
You watch your wall, “Yes.”
“Okay.”
“Just tell me the truth Edward…Your family are like…Superheroes or something. They jump really high, run really fast, super fast reflexes, and you all have the same eye color. Those people..In the field, their eyes were red.”
There was silence before he spoke again, “You’re right.”
“What are you?” you ask. You felt like crying. It felt scary in a way.
“I don’t want to tell you over the phone. I want to see you when I tell you.” he whispered.
You set the phone down and cover your eyes with your hand.
“Y/N? Are you there?”
“Yes.” you say after you pick your phone back up.
He doesn’t say anything else.
“Edward….We can’t see each other anymore.” you say softly.
“Y/N..I promise to tell you everything…Just not now. Please?”
“How long do you want me to wait? I just want the truth. I’ve been truthful to you.”
“You have. I just don’t want to mess this up…Us up..I really like you.”
“I like you too….But..I’m afraid all things that we like might not be good for us.”
“Y/N.” he begged.
His tone made you breathe in.
“What did Alice mean by my scent? Why were you hiding me from the red eyed people? Are they dangerous?”
“Yes. They’re very dangerous. Your scent would’ve enticed them.”
“What does that mean?” you ask softly, trying to gain understanding.
He lets out a frustrated sigh, “I want to tell you everything in person.”
“But we will be at school. Our time will be limited.”
“Can I come over?”
“What?” you ask as you never snuck in a boy before. It was almost midnight.
“I’ll sneak through your window. I won’t make a sound. I will answer everything truthfully. I promise. I…Just don’t want us to be apart.”
You think for a moment. You wondered what could go wrong. He’s patient on the line. As long as you’re on the line, he was okay.
“You promise you will answer everything?” you ask.
“Cross my heart, hope to die.”
The statement made you chuckle a bit before he joins you.
You hang up with your head spinning. In a way, you thought back to things and how things used to be. You didn’t know if things were ever going to be the same. You were a bit scared of the soon to be answers to your soon to be questions. Not knowing what to expect, you just unlock your window without opening it. You then have a seat on your bed and hug the teddy bear that he had given you tight to your chest.

But Daddy I Love Him
Tumblr media
Sebastian Sallow has been my brothers best friend since their start at Hogwarts. Since that day Ominis brought him to the Gaunt Manor I have been irrevocably in love with him. Only recently I've found out that he loves me just as deeply. Would the Gaunt family relinquish their societal positions and views in the name of love?

[This was based off of the song But Daddy I Love Him by Taylor Swift]
I looked down the length of the Slytherin table, spotting my brother and his best friend. It was their seventh year, the last time I will be able to casually see the love of my life in my day to day life.
"Are you with us or too busy in your la la land." Imelda said as she waved her hand in my face. She was graduating after this year as well.
"I am just thinking." I responded.
"About your future husband?" She laughed, picking some food up with her fork. "You know your family would never allow it."
"I know, but I can't help that I've loved him for years." I sighed, placing my head in my hands as I balanced my elbows on the table. "He'll never notice though, and I'll die if he ever dates anyone."
"It is a shock that he's never even asked anyone out. He's the finest guy in school, almost every girl has gone for him at some point."
"No need to remind me Imelda."
She laughed as she put more food in her mouth, my gaze focusing back down to the end of the table. Sebastian turned his head while talking with Ominis, looking directly at me. I moved my gaze away, staring at the food in front of me.
~
Classes ended later that day, the last of the summer air lingering before fall came in made it perfect to study outside while the quidditch tryouts happened. Ominis ended up joining me, stating that he couldn't have any of these Slytherin boys trying to win my affections in their sweaty uniforms. I neglected to inform him that one of them had already caught my eye.
I hardly focused on my homework that I had pulled out to work on. Ominis chatted next to me, about how he got accepted into the law school in America, how his girlfriend would be going with him. I loved his girlfriend, she was a pureblood but didn't share the same views as our parents, which made her a perfect addition to the family. Our parents were perfectly fine with Ominis marrying her, as she would fit the perfect Gaunt and produce Gaunt heirs that would be of their approval.
Would they think that about Sebastian? Approve of him and I? He was a half-blood, his mother being a muggleborn, but they didn't need to know that- did they?
I focused back at the practice as a bludger came directly towards us, a panic rising in me as I feared Ominis and I would be slammed with it. Sebastian raced the ball, beating it to the punch and batting it away.
"IF YOU'RE GONNA HIT IT, DON'T KILL THE PEOPLE ROOTING FOR YOU!" He yelled out to the kid who was trying out to be the second Slytherin beater. Ominis laughed as if we couldn't have just died, and Sebastian flew a bit closer to us. "You two alright?"
"Of course Sebastian." Ominis said without a second difference. Sebastian's eyes lingered on me for a moment before he smiled.
"I'm- yes I'm okay." I said, trying to keep the red away from my cheeks.
"Good, I'll talk to you both after practice." Sebastian said, shooting a wink in my direction.
Oh.
My.
Merlin.
I think I may have died and come back to life. In my shocked state Ominis simply leaned back into the stands.
Maybe my feelings aren't so unrequited as I thought before.
~
As the snow began to fall, ushering the end of the autumn season, I was seen with Ominis, Sebastian, and Ominis's girlfriend more often then not. At first I thought it was a one off thing, I so happened to be in Hogsmeade at the same time the three of them were, but then I was getting invited to join them whenever they wanted to get out of the castle. Ominis and Raven, Ominis's girlfriend were natural partners who clicked together like two puzzle pieces, and she understood him in a way nobody else could. Which left me and Sebastian to hang out with each other while they were off being love birds.
I grew to know him closely, figuring out that we honestly had so much more in common then I thought.
"So you've been friends with Ominis since you were eleven, right?" I asked one day as we walked the snowy village, trailing behind Raven who was leading Ominis about.
"You are correct. I met him on the train ride to Hogwarts, with my sister." His laughter filled the air, and filled my body with warmth. "He was like a small kitten, curled up close to a window in one of the compartments. He was timid as all hell, but he eventually warmed up to us."
"That's so sweet, I was worried for him when he left." I smiled toward my brother, who was smiling lovingly at Raven who hadn't seemed to notice yet. "I'm glad he found friends, and someone who loves him like he should be loved."
"And what about you?"
"What about me?"
"Have you found someone who loves you in the way you deserve?"
The question hit me like a train. Of course I have, and he happened to be standing right next to me, tall and lean, the absolute beauty of a man. I couldn't tell him that though.
"Well, no. I wouldn't say I have yet." I looked down to avoid eye contact, and avoid him seeing my red cheeks. "I guess I haven't found the right one yet."
"A shame," he paused, "you'd be a lovely girl to be with."
~
"SLYTHERIN CATCHES THE SNITCH, WINNING THEM THE GAME!"
The crowd burst into cheers, Ominis and I screaming with the crowd. Sebastian and Raven met in the middle of the field, high fiving with the snitch firmly in her grasp. I led Ominis and I down with the rest of Slytherin house, Raven slamming Ominis with a kiss, which he gladly accepted.
"WE DID IT!" I felt two hand pick me up by my waist and spin me. I laughed and met his eyes, those gorgeous brown doe eyes. He set me down and brought me closer to him, our faces mere inches apart. "Can I kiss you?"
"Wh-huh?!"
His lip pressed needily into my own. They were sweeter than anything at Honeydukes, soft and slightly cracked, his musk filling every portion of my head. He pulled away, looking directly into my eyes, the biggest smile on his face.
"You won the game!" I said stupidly, my eyes wide in shock of what just happened.
"This was a bigger win in my book." He grinned, pulling me in again.
Heaven couldn't get better then this.
"SEBASTIAN ARE YOU SNOGGING MY SISTER?"
~
"Father! Why don't you give him a chance!" I yelled, tears flooding my eyes as I walked about Gaunt Manor, trailing my father.
"He is a half-blood, and no daughter of mine will be with someone less then what the Gaunt name is worth." He spoke sternly.
"But I love him! Doesn't that mean anything to you!" I cried out. "Doesn't love mean anything to your cold heart?"
"This cold heart will not have this family be disgraced by your foolish idea of love." He yelled. "You will leave this boy at once!"
The door of his study slammed shut. I dropped to my knees, my sobs echoing the elegantly decorated home. Ominis found me later, a wreck of a girl, helping me up and trying to make me feel better.
~
Returning back after the break was hard. Attempting to be happy while knowing you were going to be forced to leave the one person you've loved I had barely spoken to Sebastian since we've all returned.
"Hey! Love, wait up!" Sebastian shouted as I walked quickly out the Slytherin common room. "Please I need to talk to you!"
"What Sebastian?!" I snapped. My coldness caused him to be a little shocked, which saddened me to do this to him.
"I need to talk to you." He said softly. "You've barely spoken a word to me since you've returned, and even Ominis won't tell me what's going on. He deemed it a conversation me and you should have alone. So please, tell me what happened?"
I felt tears well into my eyes, his arms immediately wrapping around me.
"My father won't allow it. He says that I cannot be with someone who tarnishes the Gaunt name." I cried into his chest, he squeezed me tighter. "He wants me to leave you, but I can't and I don't want too."
He didn't speak at first, only holding me tighter. Small whispers were passed about as people walked by, ones that were particularly loud enough for me to hear.
What a mess.
Over a Half-blood, a Gaunt should be better then that.
Sebastian Sallow is hardly a boy to cry over.
Would've been better if he stayed away from that Gaunt.
He pulled me away, dragging us into the boys dorm.
"Sebastian I can't be in here-"
"I don't care, listen to me love." He said, holding my face gently. My cheeks cupped in his large calloused hands. "I am not, letting you go. They will have to pry you away with dark magic, because I am not letting you go."
"Sebastian, they will hurt you."
"And I will take it all, as long as it means I get to spend every moment of me being alive with you in my arms."
That day we held each other, the sadness of the winter break washing away with each kiss he planted on me. Why would someone want to destroy such a happiness?
~
Their seventh year had come to pass, Ominis and Raven getting married that summer, and Ominis running away, just as he always wanted. I still received his letters, but it wasn't the same without him.
Sebastian rented a small home in Hogsmeade, being close enough that it wasn't suspicious when I visited him. He had gotten accepted into the Auror program, which took some convincing on my part to get him to sign up for. He was genuinely happy, and nothing could ruin what we had. As soon as I graduated I would run away, right into his arms, and never see the cruel Gaunt Manor again.
~
"By law of the Gaunt name, you will be married to Thomas Malfoy on June first of the year eighteen ninety-six." I read aloud the letter on my bed.
The feelings all came crashing down. Father had said I would be married, but I didn't think it would be so soon after graduation. I hoped it would be enough time that I could run, and not have to deal with the wrath of two angered families.
I held the letter, my tears soaking the signature of my father, and the family crest stamped below.
~
"My love, how I've missed you!" Sebastian said gleefully as he opened the door to his house. "What's wrong?"
"Seb- they... oh Sebastian!" I said as I wrapped my arms around his neck and cried. He wrapped his arms around me, holding me tight to his body. "I want you to have me! Before this foul loathsome boy can."
"Woah, what is going on my love? Why are you asking this of me?" He said softly, petting the back of my head as I cried.
"They want to marry me off," I took a breath between sobs, "to that Malfoy boy!"
"What!? You can't marry him! He's older then I am! Love we have to stop this!" Sebastian panicked.
"I can't do anything about it! My father has it planned right after school is over. I will be stuck in a loveless marriage."
"No you won't I-" He started. I held him down, looking up into the same doe eyes I fell for years ago.
"Please, stay. If I only have this year left with you, I want to make the most of it." I said to him, placing my hand on his cheek. He leaned into my touch.
"You're my girl, forever." He said leaning down to meet my lips. "That will never change."
"Never?"
"Never."
Our lips collided in a passionate embrace, his sweet lips being my addiction for centuries.
~
With graduation passed the wedding preparations started, a white gown with lacy long sleeves. Something that would show off the riches of the Gaunt family. I felt empty, a shell of myself.
Ominis returned to see me, knowing that he would be the only other family I'd willingly want here.
"How are you doing?" He asked me as the house elves prepared my dress on my big day.
"You know it's bad luck to see the bride before she walks down the isle." I said sadly, trying to get a smile out of someone today.
"Lucky for everyone here, I can't see." Ominis smiled. His hand touched my hand, trailing up the sleeve up to my shoulder. "I can only imagine how beautiful you look. I'm sorry things are going this way."
"Thank you Ominis, I suppose not all of us can be lucky enough to run away before the Gaunt name eats you whole." I said to him, placing my hand over his. His own wedding band shinned brightly. Light piano music began to play as a knock on the door let me know that it has started. "Well, let's get this over with."
"Wait." Ominis said, he was listening intently. "I- never mind. Let's go."
He held out his hand, guiding me out into the hall. Flowers cascaded across every surface, the gardens in full bloom. The entire Gaunt family, and the families of the sacred twenty-eight were all here to witness the reunion of two powerful pureblood families.
A house elf handed me my bouquet of flowers, which I held at my waist. My father held his elbow out for me, which I took reluctantly.  As I walked down the isle, I felt every pair of eyes on me, their own whispers accompanying them.
Such a good Gaunt.
Marrying into a good family that one.
So civilized and perfect.
She'll produce perfect Gaunt babies.
My father released me at the end of the alter. I stepped up to meet my future husband. Ominis was nowhere in sight, and neither was Raven.
The officiant droned on while I was stuck in my own head, trying to hold myself together. My life was over, and this was the final straw. I would never see Sebastian again.
"Do you Thomas, take her to be your wife?" The officiant asked him.
"I do." He responded.
"And do you take Thomas to be your husband?"
I lingered for a moment, taking in my families gaze.
"I-"
"WAIT!"
I turned my head to the house, where Sebastian stood. He had a white button down on, and his black slacks. He ran down the steps to the back of the isle, the crowd shocked and murmuring amongst each other.
"Love I will be your husband and cherish you everyday!" Sebastian shouted. "If you love me, then run!"
I kicked off my heels, and picked up my dress, sprinting down the isle to him. The shocked shouts and gasps caused enough chaos for me to collide with Sebastian, hugging him close.
"Let's get out of here!" He said excitedly.
"I don't have anything packed?! I hav-"
"Raven and Ominis have everything covered, we are going to America with them." He smiled. "Now let's go!"
He took my hand and sprinted up the stairs as I heard my father scream. We reached the top step and I stopped for a moment.
"FATHER, HOPE YOU KNOW I'M PREGNANT WITH THIS HALF-BLOOD'S BABY!" I shouted out. He shot a curse out, which we avoided. Manically laughing we ran through the house, finding Raven and Ominis at a carriage out front.
"Hop in we don't have a lot of time!" Ominis said, ushering us both in. "We'll be right behind you, they'll take you all the way to London, where we will make our getaway. You have the money right Sebastian?"
"Right here." He responded, holding a small pouch up.
"Alight now get going!"Ominis yelled. The carriage took flight as we watched them apparate away. The crowd of people ushered out the front door, but we were to high to be stopped.
"Wait," Sebastian said breathlessly, "are you actually pregnant?"
"I had hoped it would be a more special way to find out." I smiled. His face dropped into shock, then a grin. He pulled me into his lap and kissed me deeply.
"I think finding out by giving your father a heart attack is the most memorably way you could have told me." Sebastian laughed against my lips.
~
"Do you Sebastian, in sickness, in health, in poverty, and in riches take her to be your wife?" Ominis asked. The cliffside below creating a beautifully scenery as Sebastian and I held each others hands. My dress silky and simple, how it was always meant to be. Raven stood as a witness, our baby girl in her arms.
"I do." Sebastian said, his doe eyes looking deep into my soul.
"And do you, dear sister, take this idiot to be your husband." Ominis said. "You can say no if you wish, I can always plan another escape."
"I do!" I laughed out. Ominis smiled at my acceptance.
"Then by the power invested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife." Ominis had a tear fall from his eye, which he quickly wiped away. "You may now kiss Mrs. Sallow."
Sebastian smiled as he cupped my face, leaning closer before pressing his lips into my own. The sweetest taste I've ever known. He pressed into me, lifting me up and spinning me, our lips still locked. We pulled away breathlessly.
"I love you Mrs. Sallow." He whispered, his stubble growing in slightly. The freckles I loved so deeply being so prominent as the sun started to set.
"I love you more Mr. Sallow." I whispered back. "Promise to never leave?"
"Never." He smiled.
"Never?"
"Never."

I watched MLP as a kid and sadly was one of the victims that got scared out of their minds when watching it on YouTube and clicked baited into watching those scary trauma inducing MLP videos.
But i blocked those out of my mind for the longest of time until i want back into it more years later reading all of the infected aus and it kinda me wondering. What if instead of infected MLP aus it was MLB?
Now stay with me, what if HawkMoths akumas infected the akumatized victims into slowing becoming monsters? Like at first okay you get akumatized and that’s okay because ladybug and chat noir will fix you in a day and yes that’s true but after that your mood feels different like you can never /truly/ be happy it’s like there’s a cloud or fog in your mind and you think your just obviously just going through the motions of what just happened.
But then you start to feel a little different, the primal instincts in your gut is telling you that something is going to happen and all your mental alarms are ringing like crazy but at this point it’s been a couple of weeks after your “accident” and nothing bad really happened aside from the normal akumazited victims that’s came after you.
So you feel like you shouldn’t be /too/ worried but after awhile it truly feels like your not in your own skin on top of that your intrusive thoughts become more and more louder. They’re so /loud/ and different from your other thoughts that you think someone else is in your head it feels so out of place that it genuinely scares you.
It’s not just that “oh f**k it let’s shave your head” no it’s so horrid and gruesome that your scared of even leaving your house in fears of hurting someone at that point it might be a month in since the “accident” and again nothing really changed in the world so you really think your going crazy but no.
Because now your body is literally physically changing. -like for example let’s use Nino since (after looking it up) he was the first akumatized victim. After going through the mood swings body aches and paranoia thoughts his skin is starting to change, he’s eyes are getting sucken and with black rings around it, (he thought it was because of the lack of sleep) but he also sees his face is a tab bit blue? But his chest looks red? And he’s hands and feet are turning black he chalks it up to his paranoia and locks himself completely in his room, he has alittle brother and doesn’t want to hurt him with aggressive his thought are getting.
The next time he looks into the mirror he’s arms and legs and stomach are swollen like they’ve been stung by a thousand bees and the different colors of blues yellows reds and blacks all more apparent now his body aches all the time and feels like it’s on fire even breathing feels like there’s fire in his lungs at this point it’s just straight up body horror. His skin is trying to recreate his akumatized body. And at this points It’s hard to even strung thoughts together to even come up with that conclusion on his own now all he feels is rage. And for what? What’s the reason for all this aggression?
He doesn’t know it’s just pure white hate in his mind and thought and at this point he’s to far gone. He can’t go to anyone for help.
(I honestly don’t know how he’ll get find out maybe by his parents worried why there sun hasn’t left his room or his little brother being curious of where his big bro went or many even Adrien checking up on how is friend is doing)
But I know that with all the other akumtized victims designs they’re body horror will go crazy and more and more of Marinette and Adrian’s classmates will going missing after their akumatized moments and the rest of the class plus the school PLUS everyone in Paris will be paranoid and making conspiracy theories on where they went and who’ll be next as tension rises in Paris (which ironically lead to more akumas) while even more pressure lies on Ladybug and chat noirs shoulders and the citizens of Paris are now aggressive towards them wondering what happened to their kids/loved ones and why is this happening.
Either way I’m gonna end it here I wanna hear your thought and ideas and expand further on this becuase I think it’ll be really fun to talk about it might even turn into the apocalypse they also went to china and New York. Sorry if there’s misspelling or bad grammar and I made all of this in a rush but hopefully you all like this idea! I don’t really know what to call this au other than infected MLB au so please interact/talk to me so we can all have fun and expand this AU further !
